I got a question about XD's. I guy offered me a used XD he bought a few years ago brand new for around 600. He said he has around 1000 rounds through it and it's in good condition. What I'd like to know is if they have recently changed their design/model recently. I am wondering if it's safe to buy an older XD. Basically im asking what I should ask or know prior to purchasing a used XD

Springfield XD used?
Good decisions come from experience. Experience comes from poor decisions.Tags: None -
you can buy a new one for less than 550. I just bought a used xd40 service model for $450 with 5 mags and all the goodies and it has less rounds down range than the one your talking about. I would say shop around.
Wild sports in Sac had them yesterday for $519 i think for the service model xd9 and xd45 -
It would be fine to buy a used XD. Just depends on what he is willing to sell it for and how many extras it comes with. If he thinks he's going to get new price for it then I say shop around. 400 for the pistol would be a great price. A little more if it comes with the XD gear and mags. 1000 rounds down the pipe is not that much for a pistol. In any type of fight, & especially gun fights, there are no winners ..... just varying degrees of losers. The only fight you win is the one you never get into.

Springfield has great customer service, If it is a .40 pull the slide off and look for chamfers on the locking block. Some people have had a crack develop.I got a question about XD's. Read here.
www.XDtalk.com has a ton of great information and people.
You could buy a new one for around $600 still. Id say it is safe, but always smart to have a gunsmith check out any gun.Looking for a 3" Magnum 870 $200-$250ishComment

600 is a pretty harsh deal. It might be OK if it was NIB unfired (since you save money on tax). I bought my XD9 V10 (ported version) used and unfired, literally 5 minutes after the previous owner took delivery of it. All for $525, which is less than what the dealer sold it for, and without the $40ish sales tax.Originally posted by luchador768We also had a lot of wannabe gangsters putting the display pistols down thier pants to "try them on.". If you bought a display handgun from the Riverside Turners in the 1990's there's a greater than average chance that there is cholo crotch on it.Comment

Find out what kind of a finish it has on it, mine has the older finish and rusts easily. The newer finish is much better.sigpicLord, make my hand fast and accurate.

With a 1000 rounds through the gun, it is worth about $300 (maybe $350 at the outer limit).
They haven't changed the design to any significant degree. The early ones had problems with the finish on the slide not protecting from rust well enough, but Springfield will re-finish the slide for free.
The guns can take it. My competition gun has about 12,000+ rounds through the pipe and still running strong. My friends and family disavow all knowledge of my existence, let alone my opinions.Comment

I think $350 is pretty low. There was a HAGGARD one a while back at TM when they had their consignment rack at $350.With a 1000 rounds through the gun, it is worth about $300 (maybe $350 at the outer limit).

TargetMasters? You actually use thoseidiotsguys as a benchmark?
I think $400-450 is fair for one that has 200-500 rounds through it. But when someone says 1,000 rounds, a) usually they mean more than 1,500+, and b) that's enough that wear starts to show. Unless you know what kind of ammo they were shooting, their maintenance ethics, and how they treat the guns in general, I wouldn't recommend more than $350.My friends and family disavow all knowledge of my existence, let alone my opinions.Comment

1k rounds isn't exactly "high mileage". When's the last time you saw an XD for less than $400 used?TargetMasters? You actually use thoseidiotsguys as a benchmark?

Thanks for the comments. Here's the deal. It's an XD in good condition around 1k rounds through it. 9mm standard size. Has only 1 mag no box or papers for 350 plus fees. I have NOT seen pics yet, nor do I remember the actual rnd count.Good decisions come from experience. Experience comes from poor decisions.Comment

$350 is a steal. Mines got a few thousand through it and I've never had anysort of a hiccup, burp, fart, or ANYTHING weird from it.sigpicLord, make my hand fast and accurate.

I don't know where your at, but Marin Firearms had a couple of each model XD in stock yesterday. Well except for the Subcompact 9mm w/nightsights. I bought the last of those for $599. The non nightsight version was $499. These are brand new guns with the "gear up" stuff with it.
On edit: didn't see the deal your offered, $350 is a good deal, if you don't want it PM me the guy's info and I'll pick it up.
