SD9VE magazine issues

A used SD9VE for $150? How used was it? Cause the upper alone goes for around that price on ebay.

Honestly, the SD9VE has been one of my favorite purchases. Got it to basically get rid of all the 9mm ammo I had left over, but has become my weekend project and the first gun I have personally customized. Apex trigger, Apex spring kit, mag disco delete, stainless guide rod with spring, extended slide takedown release, custom backplate, and $60 Buds night sights for a M&P.

This little inexpensive gun $300 brand new on sale, has eaten everything I have fed it, and I even bought some extra magazines to keep it running longer. The thing I have noticed about the magazine followers has been extra mold flash from them that from use can bend or bind. There is a youtube video about getting them to seat better by disassembly and cleaning the extra plastic off... I wonder if this could be causing it to bind the follower at the top of the mag so it doesn't fully engage the slide stop?

OP, contact Smith and Wesson. If it is stock, they should make it right. If you've modified it, you're on your own.

While the triggers can be a bit heavy, it's not reason to get rid of it. I learn to shoot my guns the way they are. The Beretta 92F has a tough double action pull, but once you learn to deal with it, you become a better shooter.

My buddy has a Sigma that we tease him about, but it goes bang each and every time, with any type of ammo. They are a good pistol for the money. Don't kick it to the curb just yet.

Is it a Galloway Precision ss guide rod? If so, hope you have the revised version. The original has the wrong length spring, and causes the plastic tabs in front of the take down lever to snap off.

I also bought the NDZ Performance guide rod for my SD40VE and it too has the same problem. One easy way to check is to put the stock guide rod back into the pistol and pull the slide as far back as it will go. While holding it as far back as you can, mark a line across the slide/frame with a pencil. Now put the aftermarket rod in the pistol and pull the slide as far back as it will go and see if the lines match up perfectly. In my case, the slide stops 2-3mm short of the line on the frame with the NDZ performance guide rod. This means the spring stacks before letting the slide hit the slide stop in the frame.
