Back "Open" - Springfield Armory CS - Any Updates?

Anybody have any inside info/updates on the current state of the SA Custom Shop?

I think they've been about a year without taking any orders for custom work and the dates that keep coming up for when they will take on new orders or "release the updated price list" keep getting set back.
I've got two SA 1911s that need some work done but have been put off while they figure their stuff out.

    Pretty bummed about all this

5/1 Edit: SACS offering minimal services.

Rumor has it that they will no longer be doing custom work and will focus solely on the production of their line of custom pistols that are no longer customizable
    **** your feelings!

^^ I heard that as well - it's a sad day if they do. The CS and the warranty have always attracted me, but for the money it looks like there are now better options. If it really is the case, I wish they would put it out now and let everyone know.
      Bummer.

I was kind of hoping one of you super-shooters could shoulder up to Mr. Leatham and put in a good word.

I had two guns that SACS worked on for me and I love both of them long long time.

My warren tactical 9mm 1911 is superb

Just called last week to get some fiber rods for my RO operator and the nice lady said 60 days but it's a moving target. Very nice service and sent me the rods for free! Would love to send in my pistols for work as they took care of me and my pistol even though I am not the original owner.

Reading between the lines, I guess it is true that SACS has gone the way of Kimber's "custom shop."

              Sucks.

Rob Schauland was always a great alternative to SACS, but I heard he / ACW was acquired by Cabot.

When I spoke to them just about 2 weeks ago they said it should be around 2 months. As was mentioned above, sounded pretty noncommittal

Looks like you were right, DG -

The SACS is "open" again - only offering the following services:

So take your pick on how to "customize" your 1911: get sights (6), change colors (4), trigger (2), or fit a barrel (2).

Ugh - so done with Springfield.

I was at least hoping they would have had checkering front straps and blending a magwell but I guess those are too time consuming processes for the time being.

Wonder if that means they have caught up on their professional orders. Thought it was about a two year wait at its peak.

                            It's a bummer..

I'm trying to find the exact article where I read SA Custom will only be doing certain basic things now. I somehow stumbled upon it in one of MAC's posts on Instagram. I'll post it if/when I find it.

They are one of the best custm shops in the country. Great work and quick without gauging prices.
Yes, I know there are one man shop smiths who will keep yerr gun for two years and come up with something may be prettier.
                              Im glad they are back.
