That said, I'd rather stay away from safeties and decocking levers from a simplicity standpoint. Probably be willing to entertain a 1911 as the safety is prominent (compared to a Shield) and would rather have a consistent trigger pull over a DA/SA. Missing out on the 4" XDS was probably a mistake.
Why do you need a single stack if it's for home defense?

You missed the first part of my last post. I realize I will likely be shooting one-handed and for me, single stack is easier one-handed. Now, if we lived in a free state with standard magazines, I might not make that trade-off.

Unless you have very small hands, a correctly sized and chosen double stack should fit your hand better than most single stacks.

Also single stack are better suited for concealed carry than they are for shooting, even shot with a single hand, IMHO.

Finally, why sacrifice capacity for a home defense weapon?

Just buy the CA Shield and remove the safety features.

I like single stacks better for one-handed shooting. Kind of surprised it is a big topic of conversation here. Plus, we live in CA, with a 9mm, what am I really giving up - two rounds? If I hit better with a single stack, I'll make that trade every day.

As mentioned above, BHP is not single stacked but the grip is relatively thin, so it does feel like a single stack.

I love the G43 so much that I'm buying a second one, just because. I love th fact that th trio is shorter than the shield. With the Pearce +1 extension, it doesn't any any length to the grip and gives me 8 rounds. Anything. Utter and I might as well carry my G26 or Hk P2000sk.

why one hand ? unless you are one armed. if you want to stop a trheat to your life and family use a two handed stance. practice both but in most cases two hands is better.

if someone is shooting at you, you certainly don't want kid under one arm. and you will be much faster with a rail mounted light than a handheld.

EMP9 or Sig P239. Love them both, especially the 239. You can even get a 10 round mag for the 239 if you want that. They can be had for $600. I found my 239 on gun broker and paid $675 OTD after tax and fees. No mag disco or LCI as they are on roster without the gimmicks.

Also consider a CZ P-01 with thin grips on it. I believe it's the same grip size as the 239 even though it is double stack.

The Kahr single stacks are hard to beat if you really want that super thin grip though.

I also love my G43 and out of three on my list, it is my go to carry.

I love my .45 shield, and all my friends and family that have 9mm shields, love them as well.

Two excellent choices, if single stack is your preference.

Pearce Mag extensions and Magguts (terrible name, great products) spring kits easily increase capacity without compromising dependability.

Just buy the off roster pistol you want. More than worth the money usually and if you don't like it and resell generally get 90% of your money back. Basically rental fee
