    Serial Number check

    Is there a way that you can run serial numbers to find out who the registered owner is?

    No. You can't. Law Enforcement can. You can request a list of guns that are registered to you (and only you) in AFS

          I understand and agree. I'm asking because a friend of mine asked me the question and I had no idea. They happened to come across a gun and have no idea who's it is.

            I believe it is only something that can be done by a law enforcement officer or the Department of Justice.
