Thanks CalArkansas. Take your time and do the best job you can do. It'll be worth it!

RiflePistolShotgun, thanks much for the compliments, but I've got a ways to go (and more tools to get) before I can compete with the big boys. Professional 1911 gunsmiths forget more stuff each day than I know right now... It is definitely a cerebral hobby, or can be anyway.

Unfortunately, these will stay with me until I leave this life...

Test targets of the two-tone Commander 9 mm:

Function check target at around 7 to 10 yards:

Second target. 10 yards top left, 15 yards top right, 25 yards middle (not yet accustomed to trigger so shots a bit sporadic. Wife shot a few at 25 yards also, so I blamed her for opening up the group. . About 20 rounds in each; maybe 15 at 25. Lost count...:

Test target of the burnt bronze Government 9 mm:

Bottom right was first target checking function. Then I started at 7 yards at the top left target. Then 10 yards top right target, 15 yards middle target, then lastly 25 yards bottom left target. I only kept rough round count but there were a minimum of 15 rounds in the 7, 10, and 15 yard targets, not sure about the 25 yard...

                OP,
What is your background working with tools?
Your work and your photographs are impressive.
                Good work.

Very clean - sort of DW CBOB meets Browning High Power. Is the thumb safety a commercially available type? A minor item but the mag release screw looks cleaner with the hex/torx head - available?

                    Thanks!

hambam105, I'm an office worker and my"tool" of choice is the keyboard.

I've always been tinkering with pistols since getting my first 18 years ago, and learned to fit most small parts on the 1911 during these years. I didn't really get into full builds until I watched MosinVirus' build videos on YouTube though, and learned filling techniques through him indirectly. I have dabbled in making leather/kydex holsters and wood grips before but that's about it.

Thumb safety is Wilson Combat, sold on Brownells and Wilson Combat.

Wilson Combat has been the innovator in custom pistols, long guns, and accessories since 1977. Home of the Wilson Combat 1911, EDC X9, WCP320, and more!

Mag release is also Wilson Combat, but the hex mag release lock is EGW.

                          OP,
Judging from your posted work apparently you do have latent talent.

I was watching, Blue Collar Millionaire something or other, and some guy is digging up prehistoric mammoth tusks in Alaska. The smaller chucks or pieces he makes into lots of things, including pistol stocks. It is all legal. Anyhow, I thought you might see a connection here.

                          Keep up the good work.

Nice work, your build "personality" shows through in both pieces.

Careful, you're going to be getting requests

                            Congratulations
