My First 1911 (Range Report and Photos Added)

Started DROS on my first 1911 today. I went into Turners to put my name on a waiting list for a TRP, and that's when I saw my unicorn... a Springfield Professional 1911. The FBI custom was so beautiful that I couldn't resist. Can't wait to pick her up!!!

Congrats OP, that's a nice start. To protect your investment I suggest taking the time to properly field strip and reassembly/critical areas to lube it. Perhaps tape off the areas above and below the slide stop preventing a scratch until you're familiar reinserting it properly. You will love it!

Lol taping it off?! That has to be a first, let's hope he doesn't drop it on the carpet.

Op, congrats on your first 1911, waiting on my 1911 mil spec.

I had eyed the Kimber TLE II for a while and came to the conclusion that a TRP would be a better buy. Finally had some money set aside for one and the guy behind the counter asked if I wanted to see something special. Said he hadn't seen one in person since he started working there almost 3 years ago.

Awesome. Congratulations. Heard so many great things about the Springer Pros. Now all your friends will be envious.

An excellent decision on your part.

The thing about the 1911 is that most folks make their first purchase considering price alone. Then, as they get more proficient with it they realize the short comings of the pistol they have in their hand.

So, they trade up, maybe a few notches in price, and once again, the better they get the more dissatisfied they are with the gun they have.

By going straight to damn near the top of the line, you will not only save a lot of money over the long term, but you have a pistol that can perform far better than you can, and now the challenge is for you to live up to that gun's potential. With practice, you will come to master that beauty and it will be the one gun you will never part with.

Good job, good luck, and good shooting, OP!

If you spent the money on a PRO as your first 1911 then that is amazing. Start reading up on how to prevent the idiot scratch now so when you get it , it wont happen to you
