I actually do this intentionally with my USP 9. Full mag only, and slam it in with gun tilted sideway barrel up at ~ 45 degree. It's consistent EVERY time. In any other position, it will not close the breach.

I actually look at it as a bonus. Much faster reload from a locked open position.

But like other had said. It is not 100%.

It has to do with the inertia of loading when slamming in a full mag.

Many pistols will chamber a round if you slam the magazine in. Completely normal. Probably due to variation in the slide lock spring or the angle of the slide lock. Half of my pistols will do that - especially when I forcefully reload.

When the slide is closed & the mag is full, the 10-rd mags are hard to seat. And the 10th round is also hard to load. I have to seat a fully-loaded mag with the slide locked open. You can test this by removing the slide & seating a fully-loaded mag while watching the top round; it hits the ejector & actually bends it.

        Normal

At front sight during weapon malfunction drills, they train the glock shooters to waste a round and cycle the action should the mag instertion close the action

Common but not to be relied upon
Rule 1- ALL GUNS ARE ALWAYS LOADED

Rule 2 -NEVER LET THE MUZZLE COVER ANYTHING YOU ARE NOT PREPARED TO DESTROY (including your hands and legs)

Rule 3 -KEEP YOUR FINGER OFF THE TRIGGER UNTIL YOUR SIGHTS ARE ON THE TARGET

Rule 4 -BE SURE OF YOUR TARGET AND WHAT IS BEYOND IT

My M&P sometimes like to do the same thing.

The slide closing on a firm seating of a Mag is quite normal for most guns I own. Glock, M&P, CZ, Tanfoglio, even 1911. I shoot USPSA and over on Brian Enos's fourm you can find instructions on how to file the slide lock to make it happen 100% of the time. I would never rack the gun again after it closed the slide. I've done it hundreds of times with several different gun and it NEVER hasn't loaded the gun. Front Sight bahahahaha.

Called Glock today. They told me it was normal, nothing wrong with it.

I have not had it happen on my G34 or G19.
Thanks for my excuse to go to the range tomorrow!

It works best wifh fuller mags. Most guns wont do it wifh empty mags. It also takes a pretty forceful seating of fhe mag.

I don't know guys, i would have Glock fix it if it were my handgun. It might seem like a positive but if you asked me its not functioning as designed. Just my opinion though. For the record i only own two semis. A colt government and a M&P Pro and neither do that.

I agree with jon94. My G27 doesn't release the slide upon magazine insert nor is the gun designed intended to do so. I would re-evaluate my loading technique and/or the guns function ability. I would consider this a broken gun that is need of repair. Call Glock.

Really all 3 of my M&P Pros do it, 2 9mm and a 40 S&W. It's not a broken gun, it's not a malfunctioning gun, it just a normal working gun. Hell in the police academy they teach if you forcefully seat the mag it will do it. I can get my department issue Glock 17 to do it 100% of the time. Glock can't fix a perfectly functioning gun because you think wrongly it's broken.

Yep, that sounds like it. With the slide locked open there is no need to "slam" it home. Just slide it in. JMHO and HTH

It is normal. I can "auto chamber" any polymer handguns if I slam them in a specific angle and at particular speed.

                              +1

The G35 has a heavy slide, and would be more prone to doing it.
