I was at Magnum range in riverside Saturday afternoon, guy next to me let me try out his 9mm and I liked it. 45acp I'll stick to steel frames. Yeah I know "man up"

I used to feel the same. The difference in recoil is minimal between the 9 and 45.

If it's anything like my XDs .45s, the recoil should be very manageable.

I sold my XDs45 because I did not care for the gun overall, but if my memory serves me the Shield is just a little longer in the grip (with the standard flush fit mags) and the grip texture is a different kind of aggressive. I did not shoot my XDs with the +1 mag much because that is not how I carried it, so I can not comment on that side.
While neither are pleasant (thinking 22lr or long slide 9mm) I like my Shields much better than most other carry guns. Although I must say I really like my G43 though....

I've been looking at these. I'm super tempted but my only hold up is my sheer cheap skateness and not wanting to buy a non .40 when I have thousands of rounds stocked up. I can't believe the markups on these off roster guns, I think these are about $390 on buds?

I am hoping they update the Shield 9 with the aggressive texture and front slide serrations.
