In case you are wondering what they mean by roster. We have an approved list of relics or ho-hum guns. We are restricted to these unless you have an exemption (law enforcement). If you are considering anything, get it before you come here. You can bring it in if you possessed it before moving. We have to buy them second hand under private party transfers with crazy premiums. For example, a VP9 you can get for $475 on sale goes for $800 to $900 here NIB when someone gets 3 'gifted' to them from their dad who lives out of state. They turn around and sell them for double the cost.

    Study this list: http://certguns.doj.ca.gov/

If you have the funds, go get your Gen 4 Glocks or anything you are considering before hand. You can decide after you get here and have a chance to shoot them to decide which you prefer. Then sell excess private part locally (cant ship it if not on that list to elsewhere in CA). With the profit, you can pay for your moving expenses and couple months mortgage.

Reason folks are saying XDM over XD is the new M's are ergonomically superior as they are modern, not an antique like the list approved versions.

    Good luck with the move.

        .
        Revolvers are not pistols

pistol nouna handgun whose chamber is integral with the barrel
Calling a revolver a "pistol" is like calling a magazine a "clip", calling a shotgun a rifle, or a calling a man a woman.

All of those have a magazine outside of the pistol's grip, which means they will need to operate using a fixed 10 round magazine that can not be removed without disassembling the pistol's action.
Otherwise, they will be considered assault weapons. Which makes them illegal to import, transport, transfer, and possess in CA.

All the folks saying "don't move" live here - consider that.

Get off roster handguns, make some money, enjoy life.

Don't do it. I would LOVE to live in Utah. Infinitely better gun laws, better cost of living, better/friendlier people, better quality of life. Other than the cold winters you guys got it made there.

Guns should not serve as a primary basis for life decisions for most of us, but its not the current state of affairs that's troubling. Its what is coming based on CA going full attack against gun owners now that they have turned the tide with Gov Brown surrendering.

Submitted for your approval: DOJ's emergency magazine regulations.

That is the fat lady singing. They just put the lube away with their vagities that allowed us to be reasonable, and you know they are going to amend all the other crap that Brown green lighted while gun owners laid down for it.

Granted OP was specif on handguns, but they ARE next. I anticipate exemptions are first on the chopping block.
