    Gunsmith

    Hello Calgunners,

I need a competent gunsmith in the San Bernardino or high desert area to assist me in repairs for my AR pistol's failure to eject. I want someone who trustworthy and really knows their stuff. Recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Did you build the pistol? If so, did you properly align your gas block and gas tube?

Is the buffer tube long enough with correct spring.

I didn't build it but is was a custom build. The gas block is aligned properly. I don't know if the tube is the correct diameter or if it is blocked. When I called the manufacturer they said they thought it was the gas tube and said they would replace it with a different diameter one. Not sure what to do.

If you want help you gotta help us help you.
              Who built the rifle?
Can you take and upload a side pic of the gas block as well as one looking down over the top of the barrel from the muzzle end or perhaps take off the handguard?
              Also:
Inside of the receiver with the bcg removed
              Face of the buffer.
Buffer spring with a ruler next to it

If you dont know how to upload pics i can help with that too.

Are you sure its failure to eject? Could it be failure to extract? Whst caliber and what ammo. Steel/brass?

Where are you located? I'm sure there are lots of members that would be able to help you.
I think Ammo Brothers has a Gunsmith on site. I don't know how good they are.
If you any where near Alta Loma I'd be glad to take a look, even better Jamie at A2Zone would be a better choice.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

There is a newer shop in redlands called ASK guns. They are a small family owned shop that the owner is a gunsmith. I haven't used them but as far as customer service goes they are by far the nicest shop I've dealt with. I'll be sending them all my business.

Is your AR pistol configured as an assault weapon?
If so, only a gunsmith with a valid assault weapons permit can work on registered assault weapons.
^If it is an unregistered assault weapon, then no one can legally work on it. Because it is illegal for anyone to receive/take possession of it.

Can you give me a reference to the newly implemented laws? My AR is registered as a pistol and is in compliance with the rules regarding pistols but I know some new laws are coming down I just don't know what is in effect yet.

The rifle was built by Franklin Armory. I bought it used from someone here on Calguns. The first time I took it out it had the problem. I tried cleaning it and oiling it and that did not effect it.

I believe it is not a failure to extract but a failure to eject. The shell makes it almost all the way out of the ejection port but the bolt closes and catches the shell just and the very end of the shell on the side that has the primer.

I had someone look at the gas block and they assured me that it was aligned properly but I will still take pictures.

I called Franklin Armory and spoke to a rep there. He told me the upper I have on the rifle is not the original upper that the weapon was sold with.

The ammo I use is Federal 62 Grain Green tip brass casing.

                              Thanks for your help.
