Anyone know if the MC Operator comes in black or parkerized look? Or is painting it my only option.

MC Operator was my first 1911. Love it!!! The all black is the the Lightweight Operator I think.

That's what I was afraid of. Has anyone repainted their frames black yet? I was thinking about giving DuraCoat a shot, but they have so many different varieties of black. http://www.houtsenterprises.net/dur_blacks.html

Anyone know which one would be the closest match to the slide?

If all else fails, I could just send it in to SA custom shop and get it done. But I wanted to try the DIY coat job first.

If you were going to Duracoat the frame, why not Duracoat the slide at the same time so everything matches up? I'm sure you'll have enough to do both. Also, why not get the LW Operator if you wanted a totally black gun? IIRC SA Operators come with ArmoryKote which is a pretty nice finish.

Lightweight operator has a totally different feel, when I set out to get my 1911 i insisted on a all steel frame. The olive really doesn't look bad at all, once i got home and broke it down and clp'd it up it has a great sheen and looks great dirty as well. Slide fit is superb and not one malfunction coming up on 700rds mixed HP/FMJ factory loads. The integrated rail really sets it apart as well, it is not a light gun but if you want a full size steel "man" gun then this is it.

I checked out the Lightweight Operator too, but I already have an alloy 1911. Which is why im weighing witht he MC operator, since it's full steel.
