G43 comes in .45 ACP also?

OP is looking for a platform with 9mm and .45 ACP.

But you've just reminded me. Shield and XDs come with .45 ACP also.

So yeah, the options now includes: 1911, Kahr, Shield, and XDs. Again, for full size, 1911.

Exactly . You did get it right.

Simply asking what are the popular/desirable 9mm and 45 pistols in California ( on and off roster) that use 10 or less round magazine by original design.

My list would include : single stack 1911's( full size, compacts, sub compacts ), G26/42/43/30SF, SIg 239, HK45C and HK45 etc.

If the OP wants a gun that uses the same size magazine for 9mm and 45ACP, the 1911 is probably the only option, but the 45ACP side may not work with a 9mm barrel. He/She would need a complete upper.

All the other choices have different size magazines for 9mm and 45ACP; as far as I know.

AFAIK, XDS doesn't. However, just for completeness, lets throw the Glock 36 into the mix. Another single stack 45.

                1911 for sure.

I had a P220 Match Elite, which also held 8 rounds in a single stack mag. Very beautiful handgun as well. P220 would also be another option.

The only difference between the 9mm XDS lower and the 45 XDS lower is the ribs in the mag well of the 9mm. A 45 XDS mag will not fit in a 9mm XDS mag well. The ejector may also be a different size.

I am not from Kalifornia, but firearms work the same on both sides of the border.

The only changes needed would be the extractor (or tweak it) and the ejector (as the .45 ejector is too narrow for the 9mm case rim).

Changing out the ejector seems to be something you folks don't want to tackle at home, so have a gunsmith do it. At any rate, the 9mm ejector will work with the .45 ACP but it might toss the empty case out earlier and, unless you have an expanded ejection port on the slide, it might cause problems.

The 1911 9mm barrel will work the with 1911 .45 ACP slide insofar as lockup (if the barrel lugs line up in the slide when in battery, and if the barrel link is adequate) and barrel bushing tension is correct.

Do yourself a favor and read Jerry Kuhnhausen's treatise.

                    Download it.

The bible on 1911 pistols, bar none, and you won't get it any cheaper than here.

                    Have a good night.

Well this is a problem I ran into today. I went to go to a Civil War show, went into the wrong building and ended up in the Gunshow building. I then walked out with 2 Pistols I have been looking at. Glock 43 in 9mm and Shield .45.
