CA Roster - HK USP 9mm vs USP 9mm V1?

    Hello,
I see HK USP 9mm V1 in CA Roster. Does that mean HK USP 9mm is off roster? Hope this is not a repost and I did post in the wrong section.

No, all USPs have a variant, there is not one without a variant that I can think of. V1 just means it is DA/SA with a safety/decocking lever on the left side, the most common configuration. You can also change it to a different variant.

Thanks for the quick response. So, if I buy a HK USP and if it doesnt say V1 on the box, FFL should still DROS it, right?

Unsure if it says the variant on the box. I can check mine when I get home. Are you trying to have one shipped into CA? If it is one the FFL already has it's going to be the roster version.

OK, wait...... SOME Hollywood guy will now point out that the bad guy got hold of the Variant 8 that's ceramic so it can't be seen on metal detectors, goes full auto, and kills a baby harp seal whenever it's used!!

You must never speak of Variant 8 again.

I just took my USP9 Compact to the range for the first time. I shot it side by side next to my FNS9. I really like both pistols but both certainly shoot differently.

Love the V1. Only HK I own is a used HKUSP9c PPTd off Calguns marketplace-- could tell had been used a lot- But did not bother me- night sights still glowed bright and HK's last a lifetime- and trigger in SA was as smooth as any SA trigger I have minus my 1911's.

Love that gun- in fact if only could have one handgun- that would be it- can go cocked and locked 1911 style, perfect size for concealment but still shoots and feels like full size gun, will eat anything ever fed it.

Been meaning to get another but to busy shooting my 1911's and revolvers these days.

offhand I'd have to go look at the roster but I think the USP's on roster are all V1's..I could however be wrong..too lazy to look right now..long day..

                        Variant 7 also.

your FFL should examine the gun to be sure it is v1. if not he should not DROS it. It is unlikely that there would be a new one at a dealer that is not v1, but just have the guy check that it is SA/DA safety and decocker on left. USP 9 is readily available in v1 so it should not be hard to get one to purchase if it turns out that one is not.

OK question on the same topic... the USP Expert V9 is on the roster for some strange reason. Can I buy a V1 USP Expert, have it shipped to my FFL and have my FFL convert it to V9 while I DROS it, and then switch it back after?
