How to Identify Counterfeit Glock Mags?

I just bought some Glock 26 mags, one type looks different from the other, followers look and act differently, Glock logo is in the right place, 9 mm label is in different places. The quality is definitely different.

Does anyone know how to tell a fake or counterfeit Glock mag from a real one? I think I got ripped off by a local dealer that will remain unnamed for the time being.

Glock magazines have gone through at least 3 generations with variations of mag bodies and followers. The only non OEM manufacturer of Glock mags that I'm aware of is Scherer and they didn't put the Glock logo on the mag body and I don't think they ever made a G26 mag. In all likelihood, you have genuine Glock magazines.

I can't really think of a good reason why anyone would even bother to try to produce counterfeit Glock mags, or conterfeit mags in general. Sure, off brands exist, but counterfeit? I am skeptical.

There is a Korean mfgr that got a contract to supply Iraq with Glock 19 magazines. I've seen them for sale in the states, as well as for the 17, but not the 26.

You likely have an early gen Glock mag.

Look at the back of the magazine, if the portruding metal at the rear of the feedlip section has a U shape you have an early generation non-drop free type magazine (european style)

Examin the G in the Glock... Counterfeiters are notorious for using an open top B.

How about some pictures of the magazines in question?

I have an interesting pre-94 G19 mag- the metal is blued or blackened inside, and it's a non drop-free ('u' cut). I did get it dirt cheap as a used mag at a gun show (it's pretty rough!).
