I have a Les Baer Premier II. If getting another off roster, it would be a Premier II in stainless.

Pick which ever looks best to you and feels the best in your hand. They all hit the "x" if you do your part.

This ... at this price point its more about the options (customizations) you want and which semi custom builder fits your wants.

Especially if roster is not an issue, then have them build you what you want and don't just settle for a catalogue gun with options already fixed.

For example - Wilson start with a cqb as the base and add whatever options you want or can afford. You can do similar with ed, les , NH etc.

Wilson. But, you'll probably find that a new one will cost over $3 grand. My first Wilson Combat was a Professional. I liked it so much I bought a Tactical Elite.

Why? I've owned two Nighthawks, a GRP and a Talon II. The Talon II sucked. It constantly hung up. It took a couple trips back to NHC. The last trip back it went straight to the chopping block. I never even shot it. Lost all faith in it. I replaced it with a Wilson Professional and never looked back.

The GRP has a weird lanyard loop on the mainspring housing. It chews up your hand. I bought a NHC MSH to replace it, but it would not drop in. So, I sold it. Ok gun, but frankly not worth the $$. And after the T2, no more NHC for me. A bad gun may slip by once, but to have to send it back again for the same issue with a $4k gun (yep, it had some extras added) no way.

Les Baer. I've got nothing bad to say about Les Baer. I've owned four of them and still own three. My TRS has been about 10,000 rounds through it without a hiccup. I also have a Supertac and a Premier II 1.5." The PII was surprising in that the frame fit was not typical LBC. It's more like a Nighthawk or Wilson. Smooth as glass. I had a second TRS with a nickel finish. Great looking gun, but I never jelled with it, so it found a new home. If money is an issue, get a Baer and don't look back.

The reason I pick Wilson over Baer is pure esthetics. I like the finish of the WC's better. It's more durable and I prefer the black over bluing. Other than that, they pretty much shoot the same - soft and smooth.

There are worse things in the world than picking the right semi-custom 1911 though.

Wilson : More uniform quality, holds its value even though it is one of the biggest manufacturers for semi customs, been around for 20 years and the way the company is set up it will be around for 20 more.

If 97% of Wilson guns come out perfect / as designed, 93% of Nighthawk and Les Baer guns come out perfect / as designed. The differences are really small but if you are paying 2K - 3K plus, those differences matter.

I would also look at guncrafter, they are new to the scene but they are putting out some top notch stuff.

Les Bear Custom Carry owner here. Love it. Buttery smooth after 3K rounds and the bluing is gorgeous.

Saw one yesterday for $1675 cash price and it was hard to resist buying.

I love my 2 Les Baer's (Premier II & Concept II). If I could pick one more it would probably be a Custom Carry or a Concept VII or VIII.

I'd get the Les Baer, but realistically I'd rather have 3 or 4 other firearms than one Les Baer.

Stick with Wilson Combat or Guncrafter Industries. You can't go wrong with either if you are planning to spend around $3-4K. If you want to save a few bucks, go with a Les Baer around $2-$2.5K.

All I can say is, if you get a Baer, you will still want a WC or GI but if you get one of those, I think you will be content and no longer want another 1911. That's how I felt when I got my WC CQB Elite.

Now if you want a shooter, then I suggest getting a CZ 97B and send it out to CGW to get the E-Package and you will have an awesome shooting .45 at half the price.

                          Guncrafter.

Built solid, beautiful fit and finish and accurate. Most importantly, customer service second to none!
