Pretty common especially with Colts. Not a big deal, as long as the barrel is fit properly.

unfortunately, that is the mark of a mass produced pistol.

            Thank you Sir,
I read it from some where I don't remember where, but saying that having little bit play in the frame and slide is good adding reliability in the gun,
But compare to my other 1911, S&W 1911 does not rattle when shake, doesn't have play in frame and slide,
I was expect more from Colt.

the guns fine... it's normal... shoot it and break it in before you decide you need to do anything to it...

                    It's a 1911, it's a Gov't model, it's what they do.

How could that not effect accuracy? If the slide has side to side play that is moving the barrel the same amount. What am I missing here and how in the world can Colt think that is OK? My Baer runs all day long clean, dirty, hot cold. Loose tolerance for reliability? I am not buying it.

You need a history lesson. The internet is you friend, go have a look around.

Toss your Les Baer in a mud puddle, then shoot without cleaning.

FYI, Colt has been making 1911's about 90 years longer than Les Baer

QFT. Colt doesn't guarantee MOA shooting with the govt models, but they've been doing it long enough to know that looser means you can get away with things that would stop a race gun. This isn't a QC issue; the pistol is doing exactly what they want it to.
Then another horse PONY came out, a fiery red one. Its rider was given power to take peace from the earth and to make men slay each other. To him was given a huge sword. My kinda guy.

When a round is fired bullet torque will push all the tolerances to zero. With the sights mounted to the slide and all the tolerances going to zero the same way every time accuracy is not effected.
                            where are my pistol mags?

This Colt is almost 100 years old with ALL it's original parts(except the MAG)---the ORIGINAL barrel
is PERFECT---whoever had it cared for it even during the 50 years of
corrosive ammo it probably saw,it may not be as accurate as someones
Les Baer but from a practical stand point (shooting at targets that SHOOT
BACK) I will take it over anything else that is presently on the market. The Colt was the first REAL 45ACP,everything since is a copy. I have a friend back in Massachusetts (who has been on the History Channel) he has a Colt from WW1 that has been used extensively on a private range for many years that has fired 700,000 rds of 45 ammo, it did recently develop a crack in the frame and I believe they retired it.Pete
