Go here for the form.
Pursuant to Penal Code sections 17000 and 27560, any person who moves into California with a firearm is considered a "Personal Firearm Importer" and is required by California law to do one of the following within 60 days: Complete and submit a New Resident Report of Firearm Ownership (BOF 4010A), pdf along with $19.00 to the California Department of Justice, Bureau of Firearms; Sell or transfer the firearm to a California licensed firearms dealer or to another individual using a California licensed firearms dealer to conduct the transaction; or Sell or transfer the firearm to a California
It's PC27560.
BUT section 27570 basically has a clause saying they don't prosecute for being late turning in the form. Can be read here http://www.leginfo.ca.gov/cgi-bin/di...le=27500-27590
Also, the form doesn't even have a spot to write the date of importing it.... they don't even ask.
As said above, they just want it registered.Comment

Just do the DROS you will be fine"A free people ought to be armed" George Washington, 1790
"Don't fire unless fired upon. But if they mean to have war, let it begin here" Capt. John Parker, 19 April 1776, Lexington GreenComment

I purchased a Beretta 84BB some years ago off of an older gentleman that had moved here from Arizona a few years prior and never registered the gun when he moved. We didn't have any issues performing the PPT. As others have said, I think that the only thing DOJ cares about is that the gun gets registered.Comment

I had a buddy from out of state leave a pistol with me for long enough it was abandoned. I did a DROS on it and was good to go. However, it was on the approved list at the time.Comment
