    Best Non-Polymer 9mm Sub Compact?

I'm in the market for a used 9mm Sub.
Reliability is of course the priority as usual with a sub compact. I'm in the 300-800 dollar range.
Did Ruger ever make a reliable smaller version of the P85-92? Thanks in advance for any advise. Cheers.

P.S. May be trying to trade a low mileage G17 Gen 3 in OD,. Need to know my options. Nothing in polymer, weight is not an issue.

Sig 938 is the first thing that comes to mind... that's it. Maybe one of the older S&W 5900 series comes in a compact/subcompact?
More options for non-polymer frame subcompact in .380 like the Mustang, PPK, Bersa Thunder, etc.

*Edit - CZ Rami might be an option

The Ruger P85 and P89 are the same size 9mm. The P series didn't get smaller until the P95 which has a polymer frame. Check out the CZ 75D and P-01, they're both aluminum framed compacts. If you're looking for something smaller/slimmer check out Kahr K9, it has a stainless sTeel frame. There are probably several Sigs that would fit the bill and I'm sure others will chime in soon. Good luck!

+2 on the P938. IWB or pocket carry (cargo or relaxed jeans) works well for me.

I'd love the Kahr 9, but the jury is still out on reliability, not keen on the weird *** history on it, I.E. religious cult from South Korea bought out the company as I recall. Thanks for the advise, things seem to be pointing towards a sig or CZ...

If you decide to go with .380 in an all metal frame, look at Beretta's Cheetah... it comes both in Nickel and Bruniton...

Thanks for the advise on .380, Prefer to keep all handguns on same caliber, but am flexible.

Would a .380 stop a 275 pound PCP or Meth head charging, compared to a 9mm?

Not being rhetorical , I'd love something with a lower recoil...

I recently picked up a Sig P239 and I love it. Great trigger, but its a bit too big to be considered a subcompact. Mine is in .40, but very manageable in that caliber and should be even easier to shoot in 9mm. On roster in both calibers.

No experience of a Sig 238, but its a .380 so not what OP was asking about anyway. If you want a similar Sig in single action, look at the 938, but it's not on the roster.

No, you'd need a 10mm to stop them.

I was just laying stuff I could think of that could possibly meet the criteria. Sub compacts aren't really my forte. I know full size much better. I was gonna say cz rami but I don't wanna look like such a fan boy so listed the sigs without even knowing the calibers :-)

I have had zero issues with it .It's a bit smaller and thinner than the Rami but the Rami has 10+ capacity.Kahr is DAO striker fired v's DA/SA hammer fired Rami. Both are great guns imo.

I would go with a shotgun loaded with buckshot or slugs if you're planning on stopping 275 pound meth heads.
