    Which to keep?

Have to sell either a citadel 1911 or 2.5" ruger sp101. Both are for range, and hiking/camping use. I'm leaning towards the ruger as I love wheelguns but would rather have something with a 4 or 6" barrel. Thoughts? As much as I'd like to keep them both, one has to go.

Sell Citadel. Get a better 1911 when you are able. They are serviceable but a small upgrade would be nice. Will the Citadel net you enough money? I doubt they have all that good of a resale value.

I would keep the SP 101. Ruger makes phenomenal firearms. Get a better 1911 down the road

I tend to agree. Your Citadel is a dime a dozen. The SP 101 is actually worth something.

a 4" stainless revolver is arguably optimal to pull double duty as a range/camping companion. nevertheless, i own a 2 1/8" S&W 640-1 pre-lock .357 Magnum/.38 Special that i purchased as a dedicated camping companion and now serves as my HD revolver.

                keep the Ruger.

why does one 'have' to sell. Is it a have or a want?

I'd sell the Ruger for two reasons: 1. It sounds like that is what you want to do, 2. Unless you're carrying the Ruger, what is the point of a 2.5" barrel?

I am thinking that you have already made up your mind and are looking for a reason you may not have considered to change your mind.

What led you to decide on the Ruger as the one to go?

                        Sell both then get a 4" or 6' GP-100

                          Sell both.

Neither of those would be my first choice for range, hiking or camping.

But, first to go should be the Ruger.

I'm in the process of a career change and funds are tight currently. I'm also trying to consolidate down to only 9mm and one other cartridge.

Spot on. I carry open (where legal) and have been wanting a 4 or 6" 357 or 44. I don't have much desire to CC, so the snubby is really only an asthetic luxury at the moment.

                              Ruger

seriously overbuilt guns. I just picked up a 4", adjustable sighted, SP-101

                              Should be just the ticket.
