It depends on how it feels to you.
I have fired an XD-9 with the stock trigger, and a powder river kit installed. The PR is a great trigger compared to the stock one.

I'm gonna go with most stock triggers are crappy to mediocre out of the box. Some can be helped with a little effort ( i.e. glock .25 trigger job) and some might need a whole new system.

For comparison...the 1911s I'm talking about are my Baer PII with a 3.5# trigger job and my Wilson CQB Light Rail.
