    Lots of questions....

No, my mailroom does not open my mail (couple of knife guys there, I sometimes show them what comes in). We're a business that deals in lots of super-confidential info so they don't open packages. I have stuff delivered at work so my wife won't take my winky away. Had an FAR upper delivered there, once...never ammo, though. I'd hate to have to take home a case of 30-06 on BART...

The gun is a new production FN Hi-Power.
I got the SRT package from Yost with a few additional mods.
    The package includes:
    • Deluxe trigger job including tool steel sear and polished trigger face, trigger weight set at a crisp 4# - 5#
    • High-cut and bobbed hammer to prevent hammer bite
    • Yost-Bonitz Custom strong side extended thumb safety
    • Heinie sight system
    • Dovetailed front sight with 24k gold line or insert
    • Flatten & serrate slide top @ 50lpi
    • High-cut grip frame
    • Hand filed beveled magazine well
    • Complete Hi-Power dependability package including; tuned ejector, tuned and polished extractor, flattened and polished feed ramp, polished chamber, polished cartridge pick-up rail
    • Yost-Bonitz "sharkskin" stippling on front and rear of grip frame
    • Re-crown barrel
    • Complete de-horning
    • Satin matte blue with polished slide flats
    • Hand fit Spegel grips

The barrel is original, but yes, it does look a little more octagonal than when I first sent it. It could be my imagination.

I also had Mr. Yost do his trigger reset reduction (bwiese, you should consider this), mill french borders and a couple of other things I can't immediately think of.

Yes, it was expensive, but I have a lot of guns, a thing for Hi-Powers and would like to have something special that my kids can sue each other over when I'm gone.

Wait time, from when I sent it in to when it was returned to me was about 12 months (not sure, I pretty much sent the gun and forgot about it).

And yes, that 45/70 is pretty dang expensive, but if I can't have an open magwell OLL (not big on SRBs) it might be my SHTF gun (or the Big Lewie Jr in 30/30)...

Your Hi-Power makes my 9mm Argentina Hi-Power look like a Yugo. I hate you.

        Congrats!!

JD, very nice Browning. I have two guns at Teds (Yost/Bonitz) and can't wait to get them back. Although, kinda like JD, I gave them to them and just pretend I don't remember they have them. Makes time go by easier. That is a very nice Browning.

SemiAutoSam, Alot was done to that gun, and I'm sure it wasn't inexpensive. But if you have the chance to compare a Yost custom to a stock gun the beauty and honesty of the hard word would be obvious.

For those folks on Calguns who are not aware of Ted Yost, Lew Bonitz, Jason Burton and the rest of the folks at Yost/Bonitz check them out. First you can see ALOT of first class custom guns. Second and more important Ted/Lew/Jason and thier "friends" made up of many custom pistolsmiths and generous plain ol' folks around the country do alot of charity work. Go the LOUDERTHANWORDS.US website.

JD, again congratulations on a fine, fine gun. So will you adopt me so I can join the lawsuit with your other kids when you go?

I would tend to agree im curious as to what the mod work would cost for such caliber of work ?

thanks for the info Now I feel the need for a browning high power.

          I love this disease.

SAS...go to the website for that info.

I'm a little embarassed to say...

In other news, I finally took her to the range, today. Shot a little steel at the Davis range. Gun worked great, got a few comments and an admiring glance or two. I, on the other hand, suck something fierce. Looks like I need a little practice.

Now I wasn't so hot on the Yost Gold Line Front Sight at first. Now that I've used it, I'm a convert. It picks up light and naturally draws your eye. I'm impressed.

The trigger was very nice with a quick reset. I was impressed by the grippiness of the 'sharkskin' stippling.

Anyway, a great evening shooting with some great folks.
