      PPK size.... Hmm..

Check out the Rugers and Sig Mosquitos.

The Walther P22 is fine, but feels a little too small for me. I'm happy shooting a 1911, Sig or P7 all day.

Go to the CA DOJ roster of firearms list, and sort by caliber. scroll just a little bit down and you'll see all the .22LR's that are legal in cali.

Take a look at the browning buck mark micro standard URX SE MS / Steel, Alloy. Its not too bad looking and looks a little smaller. From what i know, finding a short barreled .22lr like a PPK size besidesthe even smaller derringer might be tough as .22lr pistols are used pretty much for accuracy where the longer barrel helps. Correct me if my thinking is wrong.

That's the one I'd get. I think about 100 bucks more than the browning i suggested. Definitley "prettier" though.

CZ-75, add a Kadet 22LR kit. It's got dual purpose, and isn't ugly.

However, the price tag of gun + conversion kit may be an issue for you.

Although you can slap the 22LR kit onto the 40cal version, and thus have a nice dual purpose gun.

I've bought my wife a Kimber 22 target (1911) and a Berreta Neos. She likes the Neos best. It is picky about ammo, likes CCI Mini Mags best.

If you want a .22 PPK, they are around, and many can be imported legally (over 50 years old). You will pay a premium, but the old C&R pistols keep their value.

If you want something modern that works well, look for a Ruger Mk2 at the local gun shows- they turn up from time to time. $250-300 for a nice one.
