Does it really matter what the FBI chooses for their handguns? I could care less that they chose Glocks in 9mm. That just means that Glock gave them the lowest bid and won the contract. It has nothing to do with how accurate their agents can shoot.

Or what other agencies are using, which is different than the FBI

That's always the cliche view whenever someone doesn't like the gun selected. No offense, I'm guilty of saying it myself.

Honestly though, can you name a smarter way to go? Glocks are Glocks. Accurate, reliable, durable, and... cheap! Its a no-brainer. And 9mm is the most effective and least expensive choice.

          Its a win/win/win.

            Absolutely agree with you 100%

And I'm also guilty of that same cliche lol.

Glocks aren't perfect. Neither is any other gun. But glocks malfunction less than anybody else (in their price range), are cheap and easy as hell to learn on. M&Ps might be equal to Glock in these departments but there is no way that it surpasses Glock. (and NO OTHER GUN even comes close)

Did you even bother to read their requirements?

You are so correct. I don't care for Glocks. I know they are great tools in the right hands. But seriously, all agencies have to bid for contracts and since Glocks are so inexpensive, they won. But just because FBI chooses Glocks, I don't recommend anyone to be a follower and buy it for that reason.

If you get a chance to shoot a lot of different guns and have the resources to purchase them, there are lots of others that are much nicer and just as reliable.

Glocks are not perfect as you hear many having problems with the CA neutered mags with specific followers and ammo. Also if you limp wrist when shooting, you will definitely have FTF. As for accuracy, it can be ok but takes much more practice to shoot it well compared to other polymers like a PPQ or VP9.

The G19 was my first handgun purchase because of all the hype surrounding it. Didn't feel good in my hand. Hard to load the ammo in the neutered mags. Had FTF when both my adult kids shot it. Felt cheap and looked ugly so I took a loss and sold it to a friend. The replacements are a Walther PPQ M1 and CZ 75 P01. Much nicer firearms in my opinion.

Interesting, since all the internet cowboys though SIG would get the contract.

SIG submitted the P320 for the FBI contract.

Sig probably lost because they were more expensive.

I'm sure this thread will make all the Glock fanboys feel much better about their purchase(s) because the FBI chose Glocks.

I don't hate Glocks. There is no reason to hate anything in life. Just something that I would not choose to own.

Why wouldn't they pick Glock, there is not another gun on the market better to fit their needs and wants and it is also the most cost effective. There is a reason the largest departments and agencies tend to go with Glocks. Besides the FBI, the two largest LE departments also go with Glock NYPD and CDCR.

I would rather have the FBI buy 5,000 Glocks at their pricepoint than have them purchase 5,000 Sigs at their pricepoint.

Not for nothing, but NYPD allows officer choice of three different pistols: Sig226, Glock 19, & SW5906 - all 15rd models with NYPD triggers.
