Dry fired one of these and must say I was pleasantly surprised how nice the single action was. Congrats, hope it shoots well for you. Personally, can't do the slide mounted decocker.

Which "D" Spring did you use?
For the PX4, you should be using a Cougar D, spring, not a 92 D spring. It will make more of a difference.
Alternatively, you can use a Wilson Combat 12lb chrome silicon hammer spring (for the 92), and that should be about the same as the Cougar D spring.Comment

I'm still considering putting the 92fs decockers on my px4.Comment

I'm pretty sure it's the cougar d spring. Got it from David OlhassoWhich "D" Spring did you use?

There is a difference from stock springs but not dramatically. It was worth the switch thoughComment

OK, you are good to go. I've seen some cases where people have used the 92 D spring and didn't see much difference. If you got it from Olhasso's site, you are good!I'm pretty sure it's the cougar d spring. Got it from David Olhasso

Once you do a bit of dry fire, the trigger should improve even more (like with any new gun). I love mine.
I also bought a couple of the Wilson 12-lb springs (based on a thread on another forum by E. Langdon), but haven't tried them yet. Supposed to be the same as the Cougar D spring. I imagine the WC springs are easier to find than the cougar D-spring, so may be a better option for some that are trying to find the proper D-spring.Comment

did you remove the extractor in the process? I'm reading conflicting reports that it is an un-necessary step. Every video shows them doing it, but stuff I read online says it isn't needed to do the conversion.Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'

I converted mine a long time ago, but IIRC, I did not remove the extractor. Check out the sticky thread in the Beretta forum on the conversion. They have instructions, and I remember that there was some discussion on this.Comment

Negative on removing the extractor. That wasn't necessary, I didn't have any problems disassembling or assembling it.

I could have left it alone but I get bored and like to mod guns to my liking or see if I can make it better. Not saying it's not a great gun to start off with, just my mind thinking ahead.Comment

great choice,love mineComment

Get a 92G-SD, install a D spring, and you're done. No second thoughts, no buyers remorse. If you find yourself in a fair fight, you're doing it all wrong.

PX4 was my first handgun. Good choice, but if I had to do it over again, I'd save up an extra $100-$150 and gotten a 92FS, which is what I really wanted.Comment

Well, tried doing the conversion tonight but failed. I could not get that little pin out holding the lever in. Tried from the top and from the bottom, that thing is IN THERE. Tried keeping the lever lined up and pounding on it, seemed like it was in the correct position but no go. Bent the 1/16" pin punch while pounding and decided at that point to walk away.
Even tried it with the extractor out, still no go. Extractor is back in now but still have the bat wings and a F-type. I wonder how much my LGS is going to charge me for this... they're notoriously expensive.
Note to anyone wanting to remove the extractor: It goes in at a little bit of an angle, go slow. I'm hoping I didn't **** it up. Going to the range tomorrow to find out if I screwed it up.Last edited by danfinger; 06-30-2016, 9:57 PM.Anti-intellectualism has been a constant thread winding its way through our political and cultural life, nurtured by the false notion that democracy means that 'my ignorance is just as good as your knowledge.'
