    Early gen glocks

Are gen 1 and gen 2 glocks considered off roster?
I am curious because I have always wanted a gen 1 glock 17, but I haven't really looked into it. I assume that if I found one, it would be out of state so I would have to look at whether I would be able to ship it into CA.
    Thanks!

Gen 1 and Gen 2 is off roster. Gen 3 is the only one that is on the roster.

If you can find one as a private sale, then you're good to go.

You can get a Gen1/Gen2, you just need the right FFL to DRO it.
Many FFL DRO early Glock from out of state. You just need to be right to pay the rape me price for it

Gen 1, Gen 2, and Gen 3 are considered on Roster.

Gen 4 and some Gen 3 variations are off Roster.

Thank you, I thought I was going crazy with the first couple responses.

When the CA unsafe handgun laws were passed and the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale was created, officially Glock did not use the "Gen" term to differentiate from the different iterations of the Glock pistol.

The "Gen" terms was created by Glock fanboys on various online forums to try and classify the different iterations of the Glock pistol.

It wasn't until Glock developed the "Gen 4", that Glock officially acknowledged the "Gen" term and the fact that there were different generations of Glock pistols.

This is why there is no "Gen" listings on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale, because officially when the Roster was created there was no such thing as "Gen" and they were all considered the same generations.

When the Gen 4 Glock was submitted, it was denied because it was internally different than the previous generations of Glock pistols.

This is why the Glock pistols listed on the Roster of Handguns Certified for Sale only applies to Gen 1, Gen 2, and Gen 3 pistols.

I found some pretty cheap gen 2 police trade ins.
Only one Gen 1 17 though.

The Gen 3 guns that are made in the USA are the same internally as the Austrian Gen 3 guns, but are specifically not approved for sale in California. FDE colored Glock are the same internally, but are also not approved.

Well, that and the fact that Gen 1 & 2 Glocks haven't been manufactured in 10 or 15 years kinda affects their availability. The only way you can acquire one is to buy it from a private party, which makes it exempt from the roster anyway.

Ideally black internals would be more desirable along with the un-captured recoil guide rod assembly.
I see this one on gunbroker at Glock Gen 1 Model 17-press me
It has the original black parts.
I have a last year production Gen 1 with the adjustable rear sight that overhangs the back of the slide. Interesting to see one from the same year with the newer fixed sights.
