issues with night sights on Glocks?

curious as to if YOU have ever had issues with aftermarket night sights that were installed on your glock...

    1. what happened to your night sights?
    2. which brand were they?
    3. was locktite used during installation?

I'm thinking of ordering some but curious if they ever back out or come loose...I'd rather stick with the crappy factory sights than have to worry about anything going wrong on after market night sights..

this seems unlikely to me that they would ever have any issues, but I'm curious

Night sights are not rocket science. Buy the correct sights from a reputable company, properly install them (or have them professionally installed), and you will have no problems. I have never used loctite on sights.

Lol, you must not shoot very much then. I've had to reset my front sight because the loctite broke free. It happened around 8-9,000 rounds if I remember. I only have blue loctite so.. I've also had the front sight on my LC9 come off due to not being loctited, put red loctite on it and it never came off again.

Use red loctite and they will never move again. My rear sight hasn't budged in 14,000 rounds. But it has a set screw, and it was a tight fit to begin with.

Yeah, I think I've landed in getting the trijicon HDs and have them installed by the LGS that has them in stock...

I think I may request that they use red locktite since I don't see myself taking them off ever...

apparently the "glory" part will last 12 years....I'm sure i'll trade or sell it before then

IMHO night sights are night bright enough in dim lighting and when they're useable its to dark to clearly ID a target. The go between would be the TruGlo TFOX for HD, SD, Comp, or duty use since the fiber optic has an overmold to protect it from being damaged. The downside to the TFOX is they are expensive. A excellent option are the HiViz overmold front sight fiber optic and a factory Glock rear steel sight. The HiViz preform very well in dim lighting and glow as bright as an Aimpoint in bright sunlight and for 26.00 it's a very reasonably priced upgrade. Just keep in mind these are combat effective sights and not great for Bulls Eye shooting. Tight groups are not a problem but they are not meant for micro precission shooting.

          Can DI AR's run dirty?

I'm curious what kind of shooting will you be doing with the gun? Many people talk about getting night sights but after a few questions I find out they only shooting during the day time therefore fiber optic sights are better. Heck, even for my HD gun I use fiber optic because the combination of a white light and fiber optic is better for my eyes than white light plus night sights.

Ammo Bros Cerritos installed green Trijicon night sights on mine 4 years ago. Shot thousands of rounds. Don't know if they used Loctite, but it hasn't moved. The green dots dimmed and shrunk a bit, I think, but I can still see them well in the dark.

IDK about the front sight for Glocks since its a hex screw instead of dovetails. But if your sight is moving around without loctite then you or your GS might have filed a bit too much. My G19 has gone through 3500+(stopped counting) rounds and neither did the front/rear sight shows sign of loosening.

The white chalk on the trijicon night sights will come out if you get hoppes foam cleaner in it, learned that while cleaning my glock one night

                    1. They do not stand out and are poor substitute for 3 dot sights.
                    2. Glock brand
                    3. Blue loctite on front post, rear flat. No movement.

I shot my friends 26 with Big dot 24/7's. As money allows I am switching my Glocks and shield to the Big dots. They have the tritium front and rear post.

                        Night sights are still working.

Just for the rear Heinie sight screw.

Trijicon HD night sights in yellow on my 34. Never a problem.

I've installed Glock brand and Meprolight night sights with the Glock sight tool. The rear sight doesn't need Locktite since it's usually a very tight fit but the front sight kept loosening even with Blue Locktite. Red solved it.

Knowing good shooters and being one are two different things. Having brand name sights like you suggest don't help if you can't hold your own. Everything I recommend is not based on looks but on actual hard use. The kit I use is far from being in pristine condition.
