    Professional Update #2

I took it out today and put it through it's paces. I had 250rds, 150rds were American Eagle 230gr, 100 were WWB 230gr. It likes the WWB a LITTLE better in regards to accuracy. Both ammo types fed perfectly.

I started by shooting a few warm up groups, then moved into a Wilson 5x5 drill and damn it is I was a hair off the Grand Master time rating for this drill. GM is 15sec or less. My time was 15.13....Son of a B. I will explain what dropped my some precious time...that non lefty friendly ambi. I managed to with a high, tight hand hold ...press it far enough up in rapid fire to lock up the trigger, came off the trigger, depressed the safety and kept firing. I am SURE this took at least .13 seconds. The safety geomotry is not lefty friendly as stated in my first post. Rightys will be just fine.

It sure is accurate and I will update post #2 with some pics.

I ran a Iron Cross by Dave Harrington and was able to easily keep all in the A zone at speed. This gun shoots really well.

I shot groups at 10yds (pic of averaged group will be posted), Shot a 6 inch steel popper at 25 yds, and steel IDPA tgt at 75 yard and pics are coming. My hand is in the first pic for a size reference. I will say that is the nicest 75 yd group I have EVER shot. All groups are 7rds. The 75yd group shot low from my point of aim, as to be expected. While it is not the tightest 75 yd group in t he world it is surely as good as I am able to do without a LOT more practice.

I even took some dirty gun pics for you porn lovers.

The one with my hand is for size reference. That is 7 rds at 75yds, group is about the size of my hand, there is one of the same tgt without my hand in it so you can see i am not covering flyers. The small 6 inch popper is a 7yd group at 25 yds, and the number 7 on the B27 is a 7rd group fired at ten yards.
I KNOW the 75 yard group is not the greatest but it is as good as I can do with a .45acp at that distance.

Thanks for the update!...can't wait to read more of your write-ups throughout its extensive use. The topic of top shelf vs. rack grade 1911s is very interesting to me.
            Thanks OP!

                Hello,

Hey I ran into this post and it's pretty interesting. Firstly, I'm a big Springfield Professional fan - having recently retired it in favor of my HK 45.

I actually shoot the Professional best -- followed by my tool/hammer - the Glock 21.

Next would be my HK45 - due to hand/sight alignment and ease of pointing the pistol naturally (1911 vs. HK).

Anyway, why did you shoot your 8-10yrd target on the right lower quadrant? Were you trying to cause an inguinal hernia or femoral vessel injury? LOL!

You are one of the few that shoot the Pro out to 75yrds. I used to routinely engage targets at 50yrds and steel plates out to 100yrds.

Enjoy reading your opinions and write ups.

                Take care,

                DD
