1911 Front Strap checkering ?

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone knew of a place in or around San Diego that could do front strap checking 20 Lpi or maybe a custom texture on a stainless springfield loaded? Thanks for your time .

I'd suggest waiting til sacs starts accepting work again so you can maintain your warranty. Their prices are reasonable too.

Having another smith do front strap work has no impact on your SA warranty..:

Good point ---try a sample before you have your pistol worked on. I mean try
and put some rounds thru a pistol with the actual checkering you want. Pete

Can't comment on the gunsmiths; it's been a long time since I had any work done locally. But I fully agree with the suggestion to try a gun with the checkering you're interested in before having work done on your gun.

^^^ This. I fondled a SA Target or whatever & the 20 LPI FSC was just too much for my girly hands. Wound up getting a DW PM7 with no FSC.

If you're into chicken fried steak the 20 LPI would be great for beating your meat.

I would go with Springfield Custom shop for the work. They can refinish the frame after it's been checkered.

I like 20LPI. If it is too aggressive, and on a stainless gun it is very easy to knock the points down with a little sandpaper.

they have paused any sort of custom work til at least 2017.

Kimber charges $175 but those a-holes say they cant touch anything that is not Kimber haha

(I wonder why? maybe cuz its high quailty. Heard someone with a new Kimber had their sight fall off while shooting )
