Sig & Springfield 1911 owners, please step inside.

I have a Springfield Loaded Stainless Target in 45ACP, NM serial number on the frame.

It has functioned fine with hardball, hollowpoints, semi-wadcutters from the get-go, there wasn't really an unreliable jam-happy break-in period.

Overall, it is very well put-together. They utilize many manufacturing shortcuts to reduce cost, and I think that's fine. It is done judiciously, not affecting performance or reliabilty, at least not that I can tell.

Many of the small parts were metal injection molded, and while none of them have failed, I replaced the hammer and sear with STI parts.

The ejector is not secured with a crosspin, if that matters to you. I think it is press-fit with Loctite added. I have over 1,000 rounds through the gun and the ejector is still firmly stuck in there good, but I will be replacing it soon with an extended ejector. I probably won't pin the new ejector either, just red Loctite.

Even as a series 80, I prefer my Sig TACOPS 1911 over my loaded Target SA. The only thing that makes me choose SA on the poll is because it's a ***** trying to get a holster for my Sig.

Both are excellent, but the nod goes to the Sig.

As I said, I have both and like both. If one had to go, it would be the Loaded.

Can't go wrong with Springer.. And if you want to do any work to either of them, most shops will only take Springers to do customs. Can't beat their warranty either

I also have the sig sauer tac ops 1911. Mine came with 2 magazines and a detachable frame rail mounted laser. It's a nice gun but I've noticed that I've had to use lubricant on the slide a lot more than on any other hand gun I've owned.

The Springfield armory was a loaded model and long slide. Came with match trigger and adjustable target sights. There was slightly more noticeable play between the frame and the slide but was my most accurate 1911.

Overall I think they are very good hand guns. Both have added features and have been extremely reliable without any issues with either gun.

I shot the Springfield 1911 more overall but enjoyed them both

I would choose the SA Loaded. I have an SA MC Operator myself. Aside from all of the other reasons I would choose SA in this scenario, I really don't like external extractors on this platform. Might seem petty but it's just my personal preference.

If both guns are available for handling I usually go with what I see and feel with the gun.

MC Operator is definitely on the short list. Especially the new one with the G10 grips.

Aesthetically, the Loaded wins in traditional looks too. Classic parked finish and wood grips.

I have no experience with the Sig 1911's, but I liked my Loaded .45 enough that I got another in 9mm.

I own both. The SIG 1911 feels more like a workhorse. It's my nightstand gun. The Loaded feels more refined. It's my load development gun. The SIG and the Loaded are both great guns, but if I could only keep one of them, I'd take the SA Loaded.
