Sig & Springfield 1911 owners, please step inside.

After having standardized on 9mm a few years ago and having gotten rid of all my non-9mm handguns save for a pre-lock model 10 S&W, I've been bitten by the 45 ACP bug again. My budget is ~$1,000 and I am debating between a Sig Sauer XO and a Springfield Loaded.

For those of you own one or the other, or own both, please chime in with your experiences.

I had issues with my Sig 1911, but was fixed after I sent it in. It's a good 1911, but I'd go with the Springer cuz it's not a series 80... Even with a factory trigger job, I can feel the series 80 parts if I pull slow.

I used to own a loaded with about 1300 flawless rounds, even when brand new. I ended up selling it only to upgrade to a TRP.

I own a Springfield 1911 Loaded and my dad has a Sig 1911, the big difference we both noticed between the two guns is the trigger and the Springfield has the better trigger. It's a very nice crisp trigger, you will always know when it will break and reset. Plus you can't beat Springfields warranty.

I've had many of both but if I had to choose one only I would go with the SA.

Holsters will be more difficult for the sig if you intend to carry it

No contest. Springfield all the way. Series 70, great customer service, and a genuine custom shop if you want to upgrade it.

                  Springfield has the retarded ILS

Sig has FPS and retarded slide shape.

Easier and cheaper to replace the MSH and parts, then to remove the FPS and recut the slide.

So I would go with the Springfield.

Sig has front strap checkering. Springfield Loaded doesn't. Every other issue listed can be remedied by swapping parts, but if you want checkering added you have to send it to a shop and pay serious coin, plus be without your gun for a period of time.

I own a Springfield, shoots well but rattles like a baby toy. Internals are typical price-point gun quality and it has no checkering on the front strap.

I don't own a Sig, but if I was doing it over, I'd buy a Sig, just because of the front strap checkering.

OP, FWIW Buds Guns had the Park Loaded for 706.00 Friday night.
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

Do you like front strap checkering?
I loved my sig, but I sold it for a TRP.
The fit and finish of the sig was very good, and that trigger was great out of the box too.

My parkerized SA Loaded has been a great gun. I do have other higher priced 1911's that have a better fit and are stainless. This Loaded just fires everything put in the chamber and is a great sidearm with the standard lifetime warranty no less. Hard to go wrong with SA.

Last year I bought a SA Loaded in stainless. It came very tight, and remains so after 800 rounds. The ILS is a non issue. If it bothers you to have on there just swap it out. I'm going to add a mag well so it will be gone. The factory trigger on mine is around 5 pounds, with a clean break.

The only change I would make in my purchase would be to NOT get the adjustable sights. SA uses a special LPA cut and replacements are limited.

As much as i like my Sigs, I went SA Loaded because the Sig has the ugly long external extractor.
