Trade Python?

The Python is a beauty but not even close to an ultimate revolver as over the years I have shot many. and never been impressed. That said holding on to the Python is like $$$ in the bank that collect interest. But then again there is nothing like a high end 1911 which I would drop the Python for in an instant if that were the only way to afford the high end 1911.California's politicians and unionized government employees are a crime gang that makes the Mexican drug cartels look like a Girl Scout Troop in comparison.Comment

The only Pythons I miss are the ones I sold before they went up so high in price.
IMO, the price is the only thing I'd like about one.
I got rid of my 3 because I ...could NOT...get to liking them.
Weird handle and fragile innards.
But I'd keep it until 2 months BEFORE the "New" Colt Co. decides to retool and bring it back like they did the SAA.

Go buy the .45. If it's a current n production gun go buy it. I have a S/W 44 magnum (Dirty Harry model) and I had a few offers to trade. While it may not be as in demand as the Python I think it's a great gun. Even though I don't shoot it often I'll probably never sell it.Comment

Nope. See the 200+ listings on GB.
I'm in a similar boat, want a rare piece. 2 year production run rare. I get GB notifications once in a blue moon. Pythons popup daily in the used market.
Something you really want may not.
Availability can trump price.

If you haven't shot it in 20 year I say do the trade or sell it. Life is too short get what you want.Comment

If moving the python is what it takes to get what you want, do it. You and the other guy can work out the specifics on the trade. As far letting go of a Python, if you haven't shot it in 20 years, you won't. If your motivation for holding on to it is that is will continue to increase in value, that's fine, but at what point will you sell it? If you continue to keep it because it will only increase value, you will never sell it because you believe it will be worth more in a few years. Go get something you will enjoy, and let somebody else have what they will enjoy. Winners on both sides.Comment

Agree, most people are simple enamored with the look of the Python. It's a beautiful gun. But as far as functional, I'll take a 586/686 any day. Very over rated as far as function and durability goes. They're popularity is based on looks and the fact they are not made anymore. The Python is a beauty but not even close to an ultimate revolver as over the years I have shot many. and never been impressed. My suggestion - Keep the Python, order a Caspian slide and 80% Commander frame, Stormlake bull barrel and build your own. You can order the Caspian in whatever configuration you like. Great quality.
The Python will always be in fashion, mine's an '82 satin stainless. It's great to have the option of running either .38 or .357 through it, more versatility in a Zombie situation.Comment

If you are trading the python to get something you'd shoot or carry, I not sure I would recommend the Kobra carry for either.
Carrying a 1911 is a commitment, I know, I carried one for a long time.
If you are looking for a great 1911 range gun, why get a carry gun when so many excellent and affordable options exist.
There is a reason why this trade is being offered to you...
Pass all together or trade plus cash.Real Californian...Comment

Wasn't this question asked and answered in a different thread?
Let me think about this, no. 1911 type weapons are a dime a dozen, doesn't matter how special they are.sigpicC'mon man, shouldn't we ban Democracks from Cal-Guns? Or at least send them to re-education camps.Comment
