Very cool OP!!! Any ideas on which route you want to go for refinishing? Keep as it, re-blue, or cerakote???

Send it to Ruger, they will make it look like new again. They may not even charge much.

With that grip, I'd go all the way and get it refinished. It's awesome, but nothing like "awesomer".

RUGER should send you a new rear sight patridge/screw, Gratis.

Nice utility piece - my 1st pistol.

              Still have it.

You got it right, electrolysis tank. Took about 2 hours.

I was going to park it and a friend offered to cerakote it, but the more I play with it, I like the way it looks.

You truly got a bargain on a classic single action, Gunny.

I also don't mind the look of a handgun that's been there and done that.

Great six gun Gunny, I'm with you, I'd leave it like it is. You can always coat it but I don't know if you'll ever be able to bring in back like it is now.

                      Have you shot it?
It takes a lot of balls to play golf the way I do.

When I was with 1/7 and 2/7 abck in the 80's, you didn't see to many Marines that had personal guns. I remember all the paperwork I had to do to keep my guns on base.

All in all the gun is in great shape. Doesn't look like it was fired much.
The Guy I bought it from said that it had belonged to his Grandfather and he kept it in his truck. The weather down here is not nice to things left in old trucks.
I put about 20 rounds of magnum loads through it.
The only part missing is the rear sight blade.

You must like Blackhawks if you had the grips laying around. They're nice guns, I inherited my dad's 4" when he passed.

I like that old used patina look to it as well and probably would just get it coated in a matte black.
