No, the SKU would have to match what is on the roster.

      Who says this?
I know, local dealers don't like online shops, so they are extra-conservative and say that SKU must match. But is this really so?
Try finding an FFL, not a dealer, who specializes in online.

Not sure about this and how it would work.

The 97 that is on roster comes with basic sites and wooden grips. The one that is not has a fiber optics front sire and Black Alum grips. There is also another version of 97 that has the FO and Alum grips + is polished blue for finish.

Are they the same guns?? Yes, if you asked me, with very insignificant and minor differences on the outside appearance. But would your local dealer accept and dros one with the SKU other than the one listed on the roster?? Not sure. Good for you if he does it.

          SKU

The last time I picked one up, I kind of watched the guy when he was checking it out of the system on the computer. It looked like he had to click on the correct SKU number when he did that. I couldn't see the computer screen or what he was doing on that side, but I did see him actually look for the SKU number on the box for some reason.

It's 1401 if you are trying to get the "Classic" CA Roster Approved model. The CZ factory has made a run of that SKU about once a year the last two years. We just got ours, so CZ-USA must have just got the most recent run in from the Czech Republic.

up to your FFL. do not buy the 1411 without confirming with your FFL first or you'll be paying restocking fees

A Quick question. SKU 1401 is on the roster and 1411 is not. Is there any difference between these two models other than the grips and front sight.

The 1401 is called the CA compliant model, If I were to buy a 1401, couldn't I just make it a 1411 by adding the aluminum grips and optic front sight.
To answer your question, you can do anything you want to the 1401 model once you have it. it just needs to be SKU 1401 when you DROS it.

What if it gets tranfered with no box? How do you know what SKU it is?

Whats to stop you from buying a regular CZ97B, put aluminum grips on it and just say it was converted to fiber front? Just toss the box away, or get the box shipped to your home?

                      ^^^
Are you drosing as new or used???
A new one that is shipped to your local dealer needs to have a box with sku. If it is ppt as a used gun, no one cares about the sku.
I doubt if any reputable dealer will toss the box and ship a new cz 97 to your local dealer for you to dros and doubt even more that your local dealer would risk his license to make $50 bucks off of you for a transfer fee.

I thought there was a difference in the feed ramp in the newer model?

At one point there was. From what i have seen, currently both models come with the updated feed ramp.

If CZ changed the feed ramp in the old model, wouldn't that cause it to fall off the roster?
