I suggest you shoot and get to know your Glock 17 before making unnecessary modifications.

The only modifications I would make is to add a 3.5# trigger and a magazine but plug...Oh, and night sights.

If you can't shoot the Glock 17 accurately, a new slide won't improve your accuracy

I've had good results with both Zev and Lone Wolf parts.
This is a tough thread. Hang in there.

I was on the suarez site and I noticed that you can buy blank slides for 200 and then send them off to have serrations or whatever you want cut into it.

I'm in the same boat as you are. I'm waiting on my 80% and shopping for all the parts.

I got the last V1 slide with the gold Ti Ni coating for $200.

The S3FSolutions barrels seem to be all the rage at the moment. I don't have any experience with it, but plan on buying one for my G17 when I get the chance.

I'd personally go with either a Zev slide or stock Glock slide.

Had a Suarez but didn't use it all that much. It did work.

I now have a Zev I use 99% of the time. It works great and I have no issues with it.
I sold my OEM slide and barrel to offset much of the cost. Sounds like you wont have that option.

Now, you can buy OEM slides and usually cheap. I think I sold mine with barrel, less internal parts, for about $200.
If you like some of the features that aftermarket slides come with such as forward serrations, you can send an OEM off for that.
I always send mine to ATEi. Forward serrations are a thing I absolutely have to have, and I have them on 6 or so Glocks currently.
It's a mere $135 + refinish cost. Point is, you can send a cheap OEM slide to any of the companies to have them work it for you.

Another brand of slide I've used and like, is Unity Tactical. They're pretty popular.

Are there any online vendors that sell oem glock slides? I can only find aftermarket slides. This will be my first pistol as well so I don't anyone selling glock slides

There's a lot of replies in this thread making the assumption that OP wants "upgraded" parts for a Glock. As he stated, he's starting with an unfinished 80% and is simply looking for ALTERNATIVES to stock parts, not necessarily "better."

eBay has complete slides with barrel, recoil assembly, and stock sights for 399 delivered... Cheaper than you can do it thru lonewolf
