Shield-Does the slide drop with full mag?

I'm leaning toward purchasing a Shield 9mm or 40. One question that I haven't been able to find an answer to on the internet- Does the slide drop on inserting a full mag?
I know the slingshot method is the popular way of dropping the slide on this gun, but I really don't like the slingshot method. I have also heard the slide release is really stiff.

    Thanks all!

Mine (9mm) doesn't. Slide release is small/stiff but it works.

Using the Side release / stop lever is my preferred method to close a slide.
The Shield's is very stiff but is loosening up with use.
      For now I usually slingshot.

So far, the slide has not ever dropped by inserting a mag.

Mine is still stiff after 1500 rounds and no slide drop. But yeah for this gun the slingshot method works best for me. Mine is 9mm as well

If it does, something is not quite right. That would be a bug and not a feature.

Charging a round by using the slide stop on a shield is not easy. You have to push it down pretty hard. If you really can't change to hand racking the slide, I would recommend getting a different pistol.

But not a bad bug in my opinion.
That slide stop is quite a bear on that particular pistol.

My concern is that since it's not a design feature, there's no way to predict how reliably it will function; if you depend on it and train as if it were a feature, that almost guarantees that it won't do it when you desperately need it most.

And I always try to keep in mind that it's a 'slide stop' - not a 'slide release'.

It is good to ask questions, good for the student and good for the instructor.

So...when a question like this appears, there is little doubt that the loading procedure for any properly operational semiautomatic pistol isn't crystal clear to the OP.

As with learning any skill, there is the preparation, training and then execution phase. So the OP has a execution question that should have been addressed in the preparation phase. And the OP is now distracted by a pistol feature that is less important learning the principles of the loading procedure.

It is easy to show the OP how the feature works, that would fix the problem. However, the OPs cause of the problem would not be addressed. Then we have another ill informed person setup for next sales pitch and gimmick.

The manufacturer even instructs you in the manual to "pull and release" the slide to chamber a round. In this case, the slide stop is really only intended for locking the slide (chamber open).

Wife and I have a pair of shields, neither drop slide when a mag is inserted, nor should they

yup, not only that but since i practice malfunction drills (tap, rack, bang) which consists of racking the slide. why introduce a secondary function such as using the slide stop? train muscle memory by using the smallest set of functions.K.I.S.S.
