Help me decide: DW CBOB or HK USP 45c?

I would like to get a compact .45 ACP. Already have a Glock 30SF, and like it, but it's boring. I've narrowed my choices down to the CBOB, and an HK USP .45c. This would be for all-around general use: home defense, shooting at the range, and maybe CCW.

I love 1911s first and foremost, but have never owned a Commander. Definitely leaning towards the CBOB. My only reluctance is that I have heard that Commander-sized 1911s are not as reliable. But I have heard good things about the CBOB. (For defensive use, I use only Tripp Cobra and Wilson ETM mags in 1911s, and I have found them to be completely reliable.) Would appreciate anybody's input, particularly their experiences with the CBOB.

I have owned an HK USP .45c before, and liked it a lot. Regret having sold it. The bore axis was a little too high for my taste, but not a big deal. (The magazines were way too expensive.) Even though I am not a fan of the DA/SA or LEM trigger, I like the fact that the USP can be carried cocked-and-locked, and that I never have to shoot it in DA. And I have never had a single malfunction in any HK. But I definitely prefer the ergonomics of a Commander, and just love 1911s.

Please note that I am only interested in these two pistols. Although I love Ed Brown pistols, I do not want to pay for a Kobra Carry. And I am not interested in paying premium dollars for an off-roster pistol like the HK45c or M&P .45. Thanks in advance for your input!

I have had zero reliability issues with my C-Bob. Trigger was light for SD in my hands so i actually inreased trigger pull weight some. I don't know if they are all like this but mine seems to be sighted for a 6 o'clock hold at 20 yards or so. Definitely shoots much higher than any of my other pistols. Groups are excellent although I am more accurate with a full length 1911 or long barrel Glock. I have never shot a compact HK but if I had to keep only one gun for all purposes my USP 45 would be on the very short list for consideration.

      Go with your first love.

The drama free HK USPc 45 is boringly reliable, accurate and durable.

I've had a CBOB for many years and have put many rounds through it. All I've ever done to it was add some red lock tite to the trigger set screw. No reliability issues and feeds all sorts of ammo just fine, even mouse fart reloads. I like the trigger on my CBOB better than my Baer, though to be fair, the Baer excels in other ways. I have spent a lot of time with the gun, I know exactly where it shoots and I know it will go bang every single time. I have other guns that are smaller, lighter and every bit as reliable. What sets this one apart is that I would not feel as confident in making a long shot at a small target with those as I would with the CBOB. The gun is accurate and puts up groups that rival my 5" Baer, both guns that are far more capable than I am able to shoot them.

You don't need either if you already have a Glock. You already have a better gun. Spend that money on shooting/training instead.

I have a CBOB and a USP 45 full size. If I had to do it over again I wouldn't change a thing

USP 45 is my dedicated HD gun with an X300U and night sights, and is utterly reliable.

CBOB is my very accurate new range toy. I think it's actually the most accurate pistol I've ever shot. The trigger is a bit light for HD for me personally but I don't want to mess with it because I like it light for target shooting.

Can't go wrong either way, but if I could only have one it would be the CBOB

If there's any chance you'll use it for ccw, I'd go for the USP compact since it's lighter.

Don't own either, but I'm in the market for a CBOB myself.
                  Go with the CBOB.

That is quite a decision you have to make. I considered an HK when I was shopping around for my next .45. After plenty of research and fondling I ended up with a CBOB and I'm very happy with my choice. May get an HK sometime down the road, but my Glock fills the tupperware pistol nitch perfectly for now.

The right belt and holster combination should help with that.
