    Ca legal revolver suggestions

Just trying to be forward thinking, if worst comes to worst with new ca laws and I have to give up my m70 and purchase an unbannable (for now) gun, I want to get me a nice revolver.

I want one regardless, and I really wanted a Smith 686 until I learned apparently it's not available in California.

I know nothing about revolvers.. I just want a tank of a pistol that will handle infinite magnum loads with a nice trigger. Something that will never fail if I treat it right, and even if I don't. Looking for a full size as well, preferably a 6in if I can.

Thoughts? What's the best available? I also don't have 3-4K lying around, so I probably couldn't get me the absolute best. But I want a nice tank magnum revolver... .357 as well.

    Go!

The Ruger SP101 3-inch is a tank gun that I would highly recommend

Look for a used smith and Wesson highway patrolman 6" in 357 mag. Throw on a pair of houge laminate wood grips to fill the hand.
In my opinion my best revolver ever made

I was thinking the ruger gp 100 match or just the regular gp100 in 6in, but the trigger in double action is a bit much. Still at the top of my list for now

Another vote for the match champion...

The 686 is actually on roster if it has an "A" stamped on it. I have yet to see a 686 with the "A" stamp...

Also, at least as of now, SAE is still an option for most revolvers that aren't on roster. That said, tough to go wrong with any 686

For one single revolver, ruger gp100 4". I own a 6" and love it. Also have a pre lawyered 6" 686. Love that one too. In fact if you have the cash, get the match champion. The one with the Novak style sights is safe. The one with the adjustable sights is unsafe. For the life of me I have no idea happy a small change in rear sights can turn an otherwise safe wheel gun opinions carnage inducing death machine. But hey, our dear rulers now what's best for us.

357 is a good way to go. Not just because of laws but just because. Everyone should own more than one revolver. Of that applies to 1911's and lots of other things too.

They're not liberals, they're leftists. Please don't use the former for the latter. Liberals are Locke, Jefferson, Burke, Hayek. Leftists are progressives, Prussian state-socialists, fascists. Liberals stand against the state and unequivocally support liberty. Leftists support state tyranny.

What makes the 28 better than the 27 or 627?

                      I'd get the 627, 8 rounds of .357.

You can't get 686 anymore? Huh? Or does this ahve to do with the letter "A" stamped on the revolver?

I have the 7 shot 686+. I thought that if 6 is good, 7 is better!

But you are limited in your choice of speedloaders in a 7 shot, only HKS and one other company (which makes aluminum ones) make them.

The Smiths (specifically K frames) will shoot loose with many full house 357 load.
If you want a tank, get the Ruger (GP100)!

My 686-1 with a 6 inch barrel is my favorite revolver. It's accurate and the trigger is great. I have a Ruger Match Champion that is also good plus a few other revolvers. My vote would be for a 686. Baboosh at 2aZone usually has some good deals on 686's and other S&W's.
