My son just bought his first handgun after turning 21 last December. He picked up the Springfield Mil Spec at Turner's. The slide frame fit is excellent along with a smooth crisp trigger.

    Cheers,

I think the slide/frame fit will be similar on both series. The only differences as others have mentioned, are the sights and grip safety options. If you REALLY plan on sending to custom shop, the milspec leaves your options more open for custom work. But youll also spend a few hundred bucks just to get the novak sight cuts and a beavertail installed to start....

I Puchased the Loaded and am very happy I did. Great value and had the features I personally wanted.

I chose the Mil Spec over the Loaded for just one reason, the FCS on the Loaded's slide. I could always add to my Mil Spec, features that the Loaded had, later on.

After firing 600 rounds of ball and HP ammo through it, off it went to SACS.

I agree, I'm very happy with my Loadeds. I think they're a good bang for the buck.

I disagree, don't choose... Get BOTH! For it is the Calguns way.

I have a milspec, I threw some Hogue wraparounds on it, it runs like a champ no issues with any ammo, however if you do want to add a beavertail it will require some small amount of smithing to get it done right. Im looking at having that done, I was quoted at right around 90 bucks parts included to do it.

Loaded is the best value imo.

Or if you are going to be going custom anyway and don't want those abominable FCS you start with a mil-spec, GI or RO. (Depending on your roster status, and if you are ok with used, etc.)

So I wonder why anyone offers 1911s without them...hmmmm.
