Join the GSSF (Glock Shooting Sports Founfation) for two years, it costs $60. They will send you two blue label Glock coupons, allowing you to buy a 9mm Glock for $425. So even if you only buy one Glock, you get it for $485 and have two years of GSSF as well. Or buy two Glocks (a year apart, they only send you one coupon per year) and each will be $455. But you need to find out which store near you sells blue label Glocks and participates.

I did the out of state transfer to get my 19... and I regret it. The aggravation is nowhere near worth the $30 you'll save (at most).

What was so bad about it?
Because I don't have many local gun stores here and the couple that are nearby tend be high priced, I've purchased out of state (online). Very easy, simple process each time. There isn't much savings to be had though unless you can find an ffl with a low fee.

Thank you all for the replies. It looks like a deal can be had locally, and for a decent price too, so I will advise my dad to go that route.

Both shops mentioned here are great. Alquist and stage stop are fantastic places to do business with!

I have not heard of stage stop before but I have been to alquist. Nice place. Looks like I have a new shop to check out.
