Tool's Take on What Glock Should Do

I just read the retarded thread-jacked discussion on what Glock should do to stay ahead of the game, which turned into a fight over how many safeties Glock should add to protect infant child gun death by idiots.

Personally, I think Glock should do NOTHING to their current line-up of pistols. It is proven the current Glocks are excellent and deservedly successful to the extreme. Glock would be foolish to change them.

I also think Glock needs to stop sitting on their asses and get back into the game of innovating. Glock should develop an entirely NEW line of pistols that keep the same principles of Glock, but have the new features people want. And Glock should sell the new line in addition to the old line.

Adjustable grip panels need to be implemented. Everyone's hands are different which makes it impossible to design one or two grips that will work for everyone. Glock should take the adjustable panels farther though, and make panels with different textures and compounds so people can choose what they prefer or what is best for their specific application.

Absolutely make the new line-up accept old Glock magazines. Slightly change the look of the slide for the new pistols, just so people who looked at the pistol could identify it was from the new series, not the old. The XDm slide is a great example.

Please do not talk about safeties in this thread. You can go here to discuss Glock safeties. I want this thread to focus on what, if anything, Glock should do to move forward.

How about a Glock carbine? That would just be plain sick.

A PC-9/40 type Carbine would be great

they can leave the basic design alone but grip panel's would be awesome (I first looked at glock but it just didn't feel right in my hand)

I'd like to see Glock revise the angle of the grip, in addition to maybe contouring it a bit more and making it feel less like I'm using a plastic brick (sure, it's not that bad, but the contour is still not good compared to something like Sig) for a grip...

The grip angle is the only thing that keeps me away from Glock. But then, that'd get rid of you wish to keep magazines from the old series.

I'm not sure if you meant it as part of your example regarding the XD and XD(M), but the (M) cannot accept "classic" XD magazines.

ETA: I just realized it would be pretty cool if they went modular like the Sig P250.

              carbine would be great!
and I agree with tool box a new line of pistol kind of how S.A. just did the XDm line.I have talked to quite a few people who like glocks but decided on a XD or M&P due to the grip issue those guys all said its because the glock grip "feels blocky and my hands are too small etc.".

So i think if they were to do something to the grip(which I think S&W was smart for offering different straps for the M&P series) and just a little something to the slide to help with a "sleeker" look. they'd really be doing well. Im kind of lucky as I have big hands and the Glock grip actually works better for me just wish it was more Ergo correct.

I just though of one other thing I'm not really happy with about Glocks:

The slide release. How the hell do you use it? It's so small it might as well not even be there.

Then again, the release on my Sig is so stiff (and partially blocked from right-handed use by the thumb safety - it's a SAO) that I can only work it reliably with my support hand or by radically shifting my right hand from a shooting grip.

I have found that the Glock slide release really needs to be broken in. On a new Glock I can't get it to release with just my thumb, but it doesn't take long to break it in, and then it releases easily with just your thumb.

You don't use the slide stop to release the slide. You grip the slide, pull back, and release, basically you "sling shot" the slide.

The slide catch was not meant to be a slide release. Your supposed to release the slide by pulling back on it. The slide catch is just there to catch the slide but still be able to utilize it when doing routine maintenance and stuff. Thats what Gaston intended.

I like Grant's suggestions. Adjustable grips and a different angle would be nice additions. A dedicated .22 from Glock would be great, as would a slim single stack 9mm/.40.

Better ambidextruous controls would be welcome for lefties, that's for sure.

... I'd rather have a lever to push on, even if it's with my support hand. It's still faster to tap the release with my thumb as I'm putting my support hand back in place.

Tool that would be great for Glock to do. I guess you're ready to move out of state to buy them.
I move slow but I make up for it by shooting poorly.

When I hit the lotto I'm only shooting factory.
