AR15 Handgun Question

So im fairly new to the idea of AR15 Handguns heard about it from a buddy. My question is can i own one or is it illegal? Also how would i go about purchasing one? Something similar to this.

You either gotta go the PPT route or build your own up from an 80% via SSE 2.0.

Unless you're roster exempt, like a police officer, then you can just buy one.

If you want something like you need to either make it from an 80% or find one that's already in the state and PPT it. You cannot order it and pick it up at a shop unless you are exempt

Alright cool so ill just build one. Im assuming you need to be 21 to own one since its a pistol? Im currently 20 will be 21 in a few months

If you're going to build one, it doesn't hurt to start looking up the 80% tools/jig that you'll need to complete the build.

Many threads about this, and the strict manner/order in which you will need to build your pistol to be legally compliant. The cgn search feature will be your best friend until your 21st bday

You CAN legally own a handgun if you are not a prohibited person and are over 18.

You CANNOT legally purchase a handgun from an FFL, or PPT a handgun.

You CAN legally transfer a handgun from your child or your parents.

Your father CANNOT PPT a handgun to you, but he can transfer a handgun to you via Intrafamilial Transfer. You have to be careful with this, becuase some see it as a straw purchase, especially if you make a thread asking about handguns and then suggest your father PPTing a handgun.

This is inherently why not many have weighed in on this topic/in this thread. As I read in a thread yesterday, "don't be surprised when you get charged and the DA presents you with a printed out copy of this thread." Haha... Tread cautiously.

I believe a father purchasing a firearm to be gifted to a child is specifically allowed and not a straw purchase. You'd get better answers with these issues posted in the appropriate 2A legal forum.

When building an AR pistol from an 80% lower, it needs to set up as a single shot configuration (bullet button and single shot sled/magazine), then after, it may be converted to semi-auto (with a 10 round magazine). Document this process, to CYA (pictures). This is my understanding, and as others have stated, do your own homework.

Two rules of thought.

Take pictures to prove that you did it right.

If you did it wrong and show pictures of it than you just shot yourself in the butt.

You decide what is the best way to go.
