C&R For Makarov?

Just as the title suggests. I am curious if I need a C&R license if I were to purchase or trade for a Makarov with another resident of California.

You will need to go to FFL dealer and DROS like any other handgun.

If you have a C&R and COE you still need to DROS, BUT if dealer knows the rules, you can walk out with C&R handgun.

Keep in mind only E. German and (I think) Russian Maks are C&R eligible.

Just for reference, Bulgarians, Chinese and Russian Commercial are NOT C&R so cannot be imported from out of state. Any Makarov can be PPT in state between two Cali residents, no FFL03 needed, but Stevie is right, if the dealer is clued in, an FFL03 holder can take it home without a wait.

However, the way the newest DROS software is written they've seem to have left out the option to exempt the 10 day wait for a PPT.

The only way to do it is for the FFL to log it into inventory and then they will have the opportunity to use the C&R plus COE exemption and let you skip the 10 day wait.

You are correct. I sold my CZ 50 a month ago to an FFL03 + COE holder and the dealer had to do exactly that. Moronic tyrants at the CADOJ just like to screw with us.
