I just picked up a my p95 a few days ago. I'm really excited to shot it, and also finally happy that that I have a p95 and ruger pc9 combo.

Sounds like a previous owner installed some fiber optic sights. Easily visible and bright sights only enhance the range experience for me. A very large front dot can make tight groups a little more challenging, but I doubt it's a concern here.
In general, my opinion is that Ruger's aren't super ground breaking or innovative, but they are built like tanks, reliable, and solid guns. I love the Blackhawk and 10/22 I own.
Buy some snap caps and shuffle them into some loaded mags. You hit that dummy round and see yourself flinch a couple times, and it won't take long to work that out.
First gun, get to the range and (safely) have fun. Go slow and work on marksmanship fundamentals. Also the standard advice, invest in training when it makes sense financially. Welcome to your new favorite hobby

Although I did find this custom set up, from an old auction:

I remember a p89 was the first handgun I ever shot at Jackson arms. It was their rental. I compared it to a glock. Both were clunky but the ruger felt better in my hand and surprisingly well. That was a great shooter.Just a libertarian guy in a Leftist Authoritarian state.

First gun I purchased when I was 21-P89. Still have it. Sent it back to Ruger after about 10,000 rds.; new trigger bar, guide rod and spring. I wouldn't sell it.Comment
