    Ruger P94

Hey Guys, bought my first handgun a few days ago (Pickup is 3/29) just wanted to get any/all opinions on the P94, the guys at Sportsman's Supply had nothing but good words about it. Also I wanted to check and see if anyone thought I have over-paid. ($399.99+tax, I should mention it has custom optics though.)

    Thanks!

Ruge P guns are solid, reliable, and accurate.

They are no longer being made, so that price will only go up.

Triggers are just so-so, but if you can get used to it, it will shoot well.

Your next goal is to try to find a Ruger PC9.

Thank you! I've shot a few Beretta 9's before, is the trigger comparable to those?

Just looked up the PC9.... Definitely need to get my hands on one of those!!

My buddy has one of those and it feels really good. Looks like a bygone era but it feels good.

Great gun . Over engineered for the cal. Its a beefy gun. My wife has it in 9mm. The trigger sucks though , kinda mushy feeling but reliable nonetheless

It's a big, heavy, clunky turd of a handgun. It lacks the refinement of modern firearms, but it will always go bang. As a general rule they will eat anything and malfunctions are very rare. The flip side of that is with such loose tolerances accuracy will suffer to a degree. I've always had problems getting good groups out of P Series Rugers, but the heavy slide is pretty good about getting back on target quickly although not as quick as the full size predecessor P89 which was even larger and more clunkier

Totally reliable. Built like a tank. Will never let you down. Good purchase.

                  Ruger P94

I have a stainless P89, as described by others above. There is a trigger mod that you can do that helps. I put a P95 trigger in my P89 and it is a definite improvement. Here is the link that descibes it all:

I got my P95 trigger off ebay.

Everyone has basically already said all there is to say about the gun, so Ill just post a pic of mine. It was my first handgun and I liked it. Of course I regret selling it now...

The Ruger P Series guns were never refined but they were reliable, built like tanks and pretty easy to shoot. I have had my for quite a long time, bought new back in 2001.

Man, I used to love the p94! I wouldn't hesitate to pick one up. And that seems like a reasonable price too.

Old school for sure but a great gun and will certainly hold it's value.
Takes some of the snap off of the .40 with all that metal.
                            Good purchase.

Not bad on the price. You could probably find one a little cheaper online, but then there's shipping and all that.

I'm rather curious about what kind of custom optics are on a P94, please post a pic when you get it home, if you don't mind.
