I've got a Ruger anniversary MKII that I like.
If I came along any of the following I would get one in an instant.
    S&W 617
    S&W 317
    S&W K-22
    Ruger SP101

P22 would be good for the kids. My I have one myself, now 1200 rds through it, only 4 jams due to bad bullet(Rem. Golden Bullet). I have big hands and it's not too bad with the finger extension, and my girl with her small hands find the grip pretty comfortable.

Sure wish we could have the Ruger Charger 22LR with about a 50 rd mag.

Looks like the rest of the US is having a ball with it.

Yours has a bit more "male insert genitilia" than mine has.
Question for you, did you like the rail mount? Is it worth the 120.00 I see them for? Second, the grip? Your thoughts on the crazy molded Xesse grip style?

            Mike,

I like the rail mount. It allows you to move your optics back far enough and also serves as a barrel weight. The only thing is you have to loctite the screws as they will loosen up after several hundered shots. As for the grips I was not to fond of it. It was big for my hands but if you have normal to big hands then it should be a nice stable grip. It also serves as additional weight so your little 22 feels like a higher caliber pistol but then again once you shoot the thing will not move at all. I think the Xesse colored grips look sweet.

Those Beretta's are nice. It just feel a little wierd for me to have to grip the middle of the slide to cock it though.

Walther P22 is a good choice.
Light, small, good sights, accurate, reliable, safety is "no brainer" and easy to teach a kid to shoot with.
Back straps are adaptable to kids from adult.
Mine cycles sub-sonic CCI HPs with no issues.
              That's my 2 bits.
