compact vs. sub compact question

For a lot of people, if they have a problem with printing, it's because of the grip length, not the barrel length. Your size and shape, holster and normal apparel probably affect it more.

The whole combination is so different for everyone it's hard to make a recommendation.

Don't rule out a smaller gun with a 2 finger grip. It's easy to master.

compact vs. sub compact question

I have the SP2022 and the Shield. Don't get me wrong, the Sig is nice but a bit too bulky for CCW as others have said. Has become my truck gun. The Shield is a way better CCW weapon and with an 8 round mag, feels and shoots as well as the Sig.

No, if you're going to add on extended magazine grips to a sub compact you might as well just buy a compact. I owned a LC9 and now I own a Glock 19. I cannot recommend a single stack sub compact to anyone. They are harder to shoot, and you gain nothing positive in my mind. My Glock 19 is just as concealable as my LC9 was, but a much better pistol.

Really? Slide length (within reason) doesn't seem to make much difference to concealability but width makes a huge comfort difference.

^^^ +1, lc9 trigger sucks but it's WAY easier to carry that g19... And at self defense ranges the trigger is good enough to get the job done. Trying to target shoot at 25 yds not so good...

Look at the CZ 75 compact smaller the the Sig, comes as manual safety, or the PCR model with decocker. I have the compact and the rami, the Rami leaves less of a foot print then the compact. The compact has a longer grip and is smaller then the SIG as well. The compact is very accurate as well. The rami is a great gun very reliable.

I want DA/SA

Sig SP2022 is not their usual DA/SA. It is really goofy and not their standard DA/SA. Unless you have a lot of time shooting it you want to avoid it. Because it is not what you think it is based on just reading DA/SA. Avoid their DAK trigger as well. So no P250 and no P229 DAK model. Worst of the Glock killer designs.

That said, Sig does make a great DA/SA...just not in the SP2022.

The DA/SA trigger sig puts into their P226, P229 is the best DA/SA trigger I have ever tried. Night and day better than other DA/SA guns I've tried. Especially guns like the Beretta 92, H&K USP, and CZ 75. Why? It has a medium DA pull followed by a not too different follow up pull. So it is ALMOST as easy to master as a Glock/M&P/Etc. Almost.

Sig puts the same trigger in other guns...but I have not personally tried them so I can't offer my recommendation on the off chance they have some quirk I am not aware of like the SP2022 has.

Personally, I would MUCH rather have striker fired gun like a Glock / M&P or Single action like the Springfield EMP / Sig P238 / Sig 938 (not on the roster). DA/SA sucks. Sig DA/SA not as much as others. If I were forced to carry DA/SA there are a few Sigs I could live with. But still...my least favorite trigger.

If you want DA/SA might I suggest a Sig P239, one of the most comfortable guns to hold and they are reliable and accurate.
