I have both a loaded and a standard Mil-Spec GI Springy. I prefer the cheaper, Mil-Spec because the slide to frame fit seems to be tighter and, except early in the round count, it eats everything I feed it. Accuracy is equal with both postols.
The only thing that needs improvement are the sights, which are standard GI sights, ie. really small.Certified Ragaholic -
Ive had my mil-spec for about a year now and I'm really happy with it, I bought it for $555 out the door. It is plenty accurate and reliable, i had one jam in the first hundred rounds and thats it, i have fired thousands of rounds through it without any problems since. Good luck finding one though.http://www.calguns.net/calgunforum/s...d.php?t=764869 M1 ammo for saleComment

When you are pricing them, make sure you distinguish between the Springfield Mil-Spec and the Mil-Spec WWII GI. The GI has different grips, different sights (worse), and does not have a lowered and flared ejection port. I believe the WWII GI is an inferior pistol to the standard Mil-Spec (though it is still a very good handgun); people seem to buy them because it is a pretty close reproduction of what was issued during WWII and it is also a little cheaper.
(the GI WWII comes in a green case whereas the standard Mil-Spec comes in the standard blue Springfield case).Last edited by ohsmily; 07-25-2006, 11:00 PM.Expert firearms attorney: https://www.rwslaw.com/team/adam-j-richards/

I have the GI milspec and its the first handgun I bought when I first turned 21 about three years ago. I love it, cycles anything I feed through it including semi wad cutters and hollow points. I take it out shooting next to my HK and I cant tell the difference in accuracy like I can with other pistols.Buy my EO Tech XPS3-0!!!

Try the new High Standard 1911A1. Good value for the dollar and were approved for carry by our local PD.07 Class II in the Bay area.
Enjoy the silence.......

They started making the Milspecs in the late 80's-early90's. if it's anything like the one I had around '93 you should be pretty happy with it. I sold it about ten years ago for another project and always felt I made a big mistake doing it. It fed FMJs, HP and semi-wadcutters reloaded on our Dillon 650 with out a single jam. They're excellent "base" guns that you could leave as is or invest a little more into it for different sights, trigger work,etc.. without having to bust your savings.Comment
