I'm not sure where to post this but I have a couple of pistol boxes with papers. One is for a nickel Colt Python with factory papers, the others are for a .22 ruger and 92F beretta. Are these collectible or worth anything or should I toss them?

Of the 3 the only one that is really worth some money is the Colt box. Depending on what vintage it is you could get up to $200 for it.Yes you can have 2 C&R 03 FFL's; 1 in California and 1 in a different state.

they are all worth something and some amount of research is called for to establish worth. a box with papers is always worth more than a box without papers and the papers will have value of their own. although the Colt Python box and papers will most likely be worth the most, there are old Ruger boxes that may surprise you regarding value.Comment

For sure the Python packaging will help make a very expensive firearm worth even more in today's market. It looks like a complete set, sell it all as a set, do not separate any of it. Someone who is into Colt snakes will jump on it. Price it high, and see where it finally lands. In this case time is on YOUR side. Best of luck.Comment

If you have the room, keep them. People like to buy (used) guns with all the paperwork and box. I have sold 30 year old guns with cheapo cardboard boxes. I think the buyers like to have everything that came with the gun. You might get a little more money for the guns in the future if you have the boxes or yours might sell faster than another guns without the box for the same price.
If they take up too much room, toss them, or sell them on ebay.

NEVER dump the gun boxes, like said above, its like a set and brings more value to your gun."I saved your life, AND brought you pizza" -- MeComment

factory boxes and contents are collectibles in their own right. i've been collecting this stuff for awhile and i'm grateful for swap meets and other out of the ordinary places that occasionally offer the opportunity to own these collectibles at much more reasonable pricing than the online auction circuit. on the online auction circuit i've seen old S&W boxes sell for over $1500.00 and the screwdriver/sight adjustment tool that was included in the factory box can sell anywhere from $15.00-$1000.00+ depending on the variant being sold. being a collector of old factory OEM stuff can be a fast way to empty one's wallet, although the good news is that the entry level for this type of collecting can be affordable for most.Comment
