S&W is the only gun maker whom I have not heard a single complaint about. So far I've been really looking into getting a Beretta, but it would appear they have certain parts that easily break, so I'm starting to move away from them. I shot a Sig today and it was nice but they run pretty expensive. Then I decided to have a look at what Smith and Wesson had and found that M&P on their site. Anyone have any experience with this gun? No better way to learn about it then hear from the owners.

I might get one if it does not have an internal lock nor a magazine disconnect.Comment

I shot a Sig yesterday (P229 I think) and I really liked the gun. But the price is killing me. What about Springfield? I've never shot an XD before.

Berettas break no more often than any other gun, probably less.
M&P is on the approved list but only in 40SW for now. I bet 9mm will get approved soon, at least SW catalog lists part numbers for M&Ps in 3 calibers with 10rd mags. I've read some rumors about SW releasing a compact version next year, should be nice.Comment

Those M&Ps fit the bill for what I'm after. My goal is to keep it under 700 dollars if possible. My real worry is realiablity. I don't want a gun that has a main purpose of personal protection and then have it not fire when I need it to, which is why I've been looking at military and police pistols.
Supposedly Beretta has some weak pins that break in the slide that makes the gun unshootable.Comment

Have you considered a CZ P-01 or a SP-01?Comment
